Senior Frontend Engineer

About the Role:

Jaris is actively seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to help build modern, customer-facing web applications and contribute to the evolution of our frontend architecture.  You’ll work with a cross-functional team to deliver scalable, high-quality user interfaces that power small business financial products, platform partner experiences, and internal operational tools.

As we transition to an NX-based monorepo build system, this role will be central to improving our frontend delivery model, accelerating development cycles, strengthening testing practices, and enabling code sharing across projects.  These improvements will help us increase consistency and quality across both desktop and mobile experiences.

This is a hybrid, onsite role based in Burlingame, CA with an expectation of 3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities: 

• Design, build, and maintain modern, customer-facing web applications that serve small businesses, platform partners, and internal users
• Contribute to the design and adoption of our NX-based monorepo architecture, enabling tighter development cycles, improved code reuse, and scalable CI/CD workflows
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in React, TypeScript, and other modern frontend tooling
• Develop and maintain shared component libraries and internal tools that support consistent UX across multiple applications
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define and implement features from concept to production
• Own feature delivery end-to-end, from technical design and implementation to monitoring and support in production including on-call rotations
• Improve test coverage and reliability through unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Participate in and lead code reviews, technical discussions, and decisions that shape the future of Jaris’ frontend platform
• Stay current with emerging technologies and bring ideas that improve developer experience, performance, quality, and delivery speed

• Consistently ship production-level features across multiple frontend surfaces characterized by clean, testable, and observable code
• Contribute to our NX monorepo adoption, improving build times, shared code structure, and CI workflows across applications
• Implement features behind feature flags to support safer rollouts of product features and continuous delivery of product enhancements
• Raise the quality bar through thoughtful code reviews, well-authored documentation, and active participation in frontend architecture discussions
• Establish themselves as a reliable, collaborative partner to product, design, and backend teams bringing both strong technical execution and product intuition to the table
• Build and refine internal tools, shared libraries, and developer workflows that improve productivity and experience of engineers across the Jaris team

Qualifications:

• B.S. Computer Science with at least 5-7+ years of professional work experience building modern web applications in production environments
• Hands on experience with: React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML/CSS, and modern frontend tooling
• Experience working with monorepo build systems (e.g. NX, Turborepo) or large multi-surface applications
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, and incremental delivery practices
• Strong testing skills across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers using tools like Jest, Vitest, Playwright, or Cypress
• Comfortable navigating RESTful APIs, asynchronous data handling, and state management
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments
• Must be willing to work on-site 3 days per week from the Burlingame, CA office

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to or maintaining shared component libraries and internal tools
• Exposure to frontend observability practices including performance vitals, logging, error tracking, and instrumentation
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices and responsive design
• Experience with server-side Node.js, Next.js, Remix, or similar frameworks
• Passion for the developer experience, including improving build systems, developer workflows, and internal tooling
• Prior experience in hybrid startup environments, particularly those in FinTech

Applicants can expect an annual base compensation in the range of $142,000 to $171,000 USD. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Jaris and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
