Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Program Manager (L5) to lead large-scale, cross-functional engineering programs that are critical to business outcomes. This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional execution skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Architecture, QA, Security, and Operations.
As an L5 Program Manager, you will own end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives, drive operational rigor, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and ensure predictable, high-quality execution across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Delivery Management
- Own end-to-end program execution for complex engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams and systems
- Define program scope, goals, milestones, timelines, and success metrics
- Drive execution discipline using Agile / Hybrid delivery models
- Track and report progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to leadership
- Ensure on-time delivery with high quality and minimal operational risk
Technical & Engineering Collaboration
- Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Architects, and Product Managers
- Translate high-level business goals into clear technical execution plans
- Understand system architecture, APIs, dependencies, and non-functional requirements (scalability, reliability, security)
- Drive technical discussions related to sequencing, dependencies, and feasibility (without owning design)
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the single point of accountability for program outcomes
- Align stakeholders across Product, Engineering, QA, SRE, Security, Compliance, and Support
- Resolve conflicts, unblock teams, and escalate effectively when required
- Influence without authority at senior levels
Risk, Dependency & Change Management
- Identify and proactively manage program risks, technical debt, and delivery bottlenecks
- Manage complex inter-team and cross-org dependencies
- Drive mitigation plans and contingency strategies
- Manage scope changes and ensure alignment with business priorities
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Establish and improve program management best practices
- Drive consistency in planning, execution, and reporting across engineering teams
- Create and maintain dashboards, documentation, and communication artifacts
- Contribute to improving delivery predictability, velocity, and quality at scale
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Provide clear, concise, and data-driven updates to senior leadership
- Facilitate executive reviews, program checkpoints, and retrospectives
- Ensure transparency across timelines, risks, and outcomes
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 8–12+ years of experience in Program / Technical Program Management
- 5+ years managing complex engineering programs at scale
- Experience working in product-led or SaaS engineering organizations
- Proven track record of delivering multi-team, multi-quarter initiatives
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Hands-on experience with Agile / Scrum / Kanban methodologies
- Ability to understand system architecture, APIs, cloud services, and engineering trade-offs
- Experience working with distributed / global engineering teams
Program Management Skills
- Expert in planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, and execution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering background or prior experience as a developer / QA / architect
- Experience with cloud platforms, platform engineering, or infrastructure programs
- Exposure to DevOps, SRE, security, or compliance-driven programs
- Experience driving programs across multiple business units or products
