JD.com is offering internship opportunities to graduate students at our office located in Westminster, London. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in e-commerce, technology, and related businesses, a passion for solving business problems, and a strategic growth mindset. This is a unique opportunity to work directly alongside senior leadership in our buying/merchandising team and see the real world impact of your work. We are able to offer an immediate start.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Product selection:

  • Market/competitor analysis - understanding which products are popular, trending or high potential.
  • Obtaining the margins/costs of a product and the contact details of suppliers.

 

Supplier/People skills:

  • Formulating strategies to negotiate with our suppliers.
  • Building sustainable relationships with a long term view.

 

General responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating partnerships and business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to gather data and insights.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business plans and operational processes.
  • Engage in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with an anticipated graduation date between July 2024 and July 2025.
  • Available for at least 6 months of full-time (40 hours/week) internship based in Westminster, London.
  • Previous experience in retail, e-commerce or a related area such as working in a shop.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
  • A strong analytical mind with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data and perform analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the UK consumer market.
