The Team Leader – Underwriting Support will work a hybrid schedule from our Phoenix AZ office.
The Team Leader – Underwriting Support will provide leadership and direction to the Underwriting Support team, ensuring seamless policy issuance, compliance support, and operational efficiency. This role will also focus on platform support, acting as a liaison between underwriting teams and internal IT, managing system solutions, and supporting cross-functional projects. Additionally, the Team Leader will ensure compliance with state and provincial regulations and contribute to underwriting system improvements.
Responsibilities:
- New & Renewal account support; focusing on optimizing workflows for underwriting including pre quote policy ingestion and set up, application quality assurance, and post quote issuance and follow up support.
- Act as primary liaison for the policy issuance system (Concept One), particularly with respect to troubleshooting solutions for underwriting and general program production.
- Retrieve, organize and review various C1 reports for the team.
- Assist with new agency appointment process as well as agency changes per MininCo compliance standards and best practices.
- Assist with compliance issues, including emergency orders and other industry regulations, and interpret policy language.
- Manage rate filings and compliance updates; communicate changes to IT for updates to system.
- Oversee and track compliance with underwriting guidelines, and rate filings across all states.
- Maintain the integrity of the policy issuance system, ensuring that underwriting guidelines, applications, and coverage forms remain up-to-date.
- Lead and contribute to special projects, coordinating efforts to align system upgrades and enhancements with program objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between underwriting, IT, and business vendors to ensure seamless system functionality and effective issue resolution.
- Act as the liaison for ReSource Pro, supporting workflow optimization, cross-team communication and collaboration.
- Support in preparing communications and processes for the underwriters, providing critical support not typically received from other team leads.
- Review, approve, and contribute to Scope of Work (SOW) documents, ensuring alignment with program goals and requirements.
- Manage the Risk Control Inspection process, including ordering and cost tracking, and act as the Inspection Vendor Liaison.
- Ensure thorough testing and successful implementation of system enhancements.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to state and provincial licensing requirements, ensuring state policy compliance.
- Supervise and mentor the Underwriting Support Team, offering coaching and development opportunities.
- Provide system sign-on information for new employees across multiple platforms, as needed.
- Act as the liaison for Liberty/Safeco Now communications and processes, including working with Scott Mitchell.
- Act as ODEN admin, ensuring system functionality and user access is maintained.
- Actively participate in weekly Underwriting Team meetings, contributing to cross-departmental initiatives and collaboration.
- Maintain high internal service standards and proactively identify opportunities for process or system improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of four (4) years in commercial underwriting, insurance operations, or project management, with experience in policy issuance systems.
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred in business, insurance, or a related field.
- Property-Casualty experience preferred
- Surplus lines experience preferred
- Certification in Project Management and/or Business Analysis preferred
- Familiarity with state and provincial compliance requirements for insurance products and licensing.
- Technical insurance training (CPCU, IIA, CISR, CIC, AU) is a plus
- Arizona State Insurance License may be required, or willingness to obtain.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
