The Social Media Manager at Oak Essentials leads day-to-day content strategy, creation and community-building across all social platforms, driving both brand affinity and daily sales. Equal parts performance-driven and creatively led, this role shapes how Oak Essentials shows up socially and scales its presence. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Brand and the VP of Brand Communications.

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Social Media Manager, your primary responsibilities include the following:

Strategy & Analytics

  • Develop and evolve the organic social strategy across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube and more).
  • Build and manage a performance-minded social calendar aligned to launches, retail priorities, and brand moments, planning no less than 2 weeks ahead but planning out content and launches months in advance.
  • Create monthly focus plans and launch-specific social strategies, presenting them cross-functionally ahead of key moments and reporting on results post-launch.
  • Research, suggest and test new content formats and growth tactics to drive engagement and follower growth.
  • Monitor algorithms, consumer behavior, and platform shifts to guide optimization and content prioritization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, PR, retail and growth teams to ensure all campaigns, launches and storytelling are integrated across touchpoints—including co-branded activation and amplification moments.
  • Attend 2–4 social conferences annually to support professional growth and bring back trend-forward learnings.

Channel Management & Publishing

  • Own the day-to-day publishing of content across all social channels, including scheduling via social media management tools. At times, will need to post ad hoc as needed during day, night, or weekends.
  • Write and publish all organic copy, ensuring it also translates to brand and product narratives and is tailored for the specific platform, balancing tone, format and audience nuances.
  • Align closely with e-comm, paid, and digital growth teams to support key revenue-driving moments.

Content Creation & Production

  • Drive daily content inspiration, ideation, creation, and production across all formats (video, graphics, static).
  • Capture mobile-first content day-to-day for real-time use across platforms.
  • Attend photo/video shoots to capture behind-the-scenes, on-set, and real-time content.
  • Edit short-form video content for Instagram and TikTok, ensuring all visuals match brand aesthetics.
  • Brief and manage designers, photographers, videographers, and creative partners to deliver high-impact assets as needed or budgeted.
  • Monitor and respond to cultural trends, memes, and social conversations to ensure content stays relevant and timely.
  • Brings an omni-channel mindset—creates content that supports both DTC and wholesale marketing; quarterly content capture at retail locations (e.g., Ulta, Nordstrom) is expected.

Community & Engagement

  • Actively manage comments, DMs, and tagged content to foster a healthy, engaged community.
  • Source and maintain a library of high-performing UGC to repurpose across social channels.
  • Collaborate with the influencer team to identify superfans and emerging creators for potential partnerships.
  • Partner with the Head of Brand Voice to refine and maintain copy tone guides per platform.
  • Monitor and flag emerging social chatter and sentiment, sharing key themes, trends and competitive insights to guide brand response and positioning.

Performance & Reporting

  • Own monthly and ad hoc social reporting, tracking performance, sentiment, and post-launch insights to guide future content and campaign strategy.
  • Deliver monthly dashboards and topline readouts to brand, digital, and marketing leads.
  • Own post-mortem reporting for monthly focuses and launch plans, sharing learnings, wins, and opportunities for future content optimization.
  • Support cross-functional reporting and post-campaign evaluation with key metrics and insights.

Event Presence & Brand Representation

  • Represent Oak Essentials at press and influencer events, in-store activations, creator meetups, and relevant industry moments
  • Capture on-the-ground content during brand moments as needed Willingness to travel regularly is required
  • Flexible and responsive with working hours; occasional evening or weekend support may be required for press events, shoots, or activations.
  • Not only responsible for capturing content, but also expected to be a hands-on, integral part of event execution and in-store activations

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

  • The ideal candidate must live in either New York or Southern California 
  • 4+ years in social media focused on beauty, wellness, luxury or fashion
  • Proven ability to grow social platforms, brand identity and generate meaningful brand engagement
  • Demonstrated success running social handles that convert and perform
  • Strong understanding of TikTok and Instagram and emerging platforms
  • Excellent visual eye and copywriting skills—comfortable being scrappy and nimble with mobile content creation
  • A positive, can-do attitude that thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Data-driven ‘no task too small’ mindset and a strong communicator with experience managing up, laterally, and cross-functionally
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
  • Willingness to perform a ‘project’ as part of interview process
  • Must be able to lift and move boxes (20+ lbs) during influencer send-outs, retail visits, and event prep days
  • Must be willing to travel to nearby retailer locations for content capturing, including Ulta, Nordstrom and more

 

Other Role Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasionally must be able to lift or move items up to 15 lbs
  • 10-15% travel required. Must be available and willing to travel for shoots, events, key brand moments and to LA for in-office meetings

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. The base salary is determined by experience, education, skills, and location.
