Part Time - Associate Technical Designer (CONTRACTOR)

Role and Responsibilities:
As the Part-Time Contractor – Associate Technical Designer, your primary responsibilities include the following:
- Evaluate and measure samples to determine compliance of specs, construction, quality and design intent
- Create detailed fit comments and additional corrective action recommendations illustrated by photos/diagrams to communicate callouts to vendors in a timely manner
- Communicate accurate and precise garment corrections to domestic and overseas vendors without supervisor oversight to ensure quality sample submits
- Check in samples and prep for fitting (measure, steam/iron) as well as sit in on fittings and take accurate and clear notes to document fit decisions and updates
- Assist in building and creating development and production tech packs with up-to-date BOM, garment construction details, label placement page and graded specs for vendors
- Maintain and update measurement specifications, how to measure guides, construction and label call out pages throughout product lifecycle
- Help oversee and maintain sample WIPs to ensure all info is accurate, working closely with production to make sure deadlines are maintained and any challenges are communicated
- Review and communicate all TOP comments and approvals to vendors
- Help organize and manage sample archives
- Adhere to the department standards and best practices for product fit and process compliance
- Provide administrative and clerical support to Technical Design Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Available 20-25 hours per week
- Associates Degree or higher in Product Development / Tech Design or related field
- Able to work independently
- 3-5 years of prior work experience in Technical Design
- In depth knowledge of how to measure garments
- Working knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, basic grading, and vendor/factory communication
- Strong understanding of prototyping, development practices & processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop & Illustrator
- Must have excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate strategies across all channels and levels
- The ability to organize & prioritize workload to meet deadlines is essential while being flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
- Must be extremely organized, work well under pressure and have positive working attitude
- Team player, collaborative, results driven and respectful
- Quick learner with excellent attention to detail
- Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation available
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to sew (a plus)
- Results driven; strategic, conceptual and innovative thinker
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and exceptional organizational skills, owning calendar and managing deadlines
