Job Overview
Jensen Hughes has an exciting job opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Director, Business Development for our Midwest fire protection engineering business. This is a hybrid position with regular days in the office to coordinate with operations staff and occasional travel for client meetings. The candidate will ideally be based in a Midwest metropolitan area (e.g., Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Milwaukee). The Senior Director will work with the Operations Leader and the Midwest team to strategically drive new proposals and orders for the full range of professional consulting services across the sub region. Core services include Fire & Building Safety (FBS), Industrial & Process Safety (IPS), as well as fire protection design services. The successful candidate will be a confident sales leader, with a client focused service-oriented attitude, both internally and externally, and report to the Vice President Business Development, North Region.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing new business for our Forensics line of professional consulting services and winning new investigations across regional insurance, legal communities, professional organizations and other targets that align with our business strategy.
- Drive personal sales nationally while partnering with Operational Sales Leaders to align priorities at the local level, allocate resources accordingly and provide increased collaboration to foster mutual success.
- Reinforce relationships with current clients through regular and consistent contact and promotion of value-added services that are solutions driven.
- Conduct a targeted number of value-added in-person client contacts each week aimed at increasing market penetration and share to gain new clients.
- Secure, coordinate and manage forensics investigator presentations at national industry events.
- Participate in local marketing strategies, industry events, trade shows, etc.
- Maintain and track performance against established personal, national sales goals.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from a four-year college or university
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in engineering services and partnering with operations teams to drive orders and proposals for professional consulting services.
- Candidates with prior business development experience in engineering services or related professional services are highly desirable.
- A network of contacts with architectural engineering firms and end-users is a plus.
- Record of success demonstrated by over achievement of sales goals, awards, sales ranking, etc.
- Advanced communication and negotiation skills as well as proficiency with common office tools such as MS PowerPoint, MS Dynamics, Excel, CRM, etc.
- Ability to promptly engage with both prospects and clients via phone/email/video conferences/face to face meetings, and presentations.
- Ability to build and manage an expense budget.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% within North America.
- Engineering education or practice experience welcomed.
