As a result of the huge success of the formation of our External Walls and Facades team, which has seen rapid growth over the last 18 months, we have a new position for a Director of External Walls and Facades to join our market leading UK team.
The impact you’ll make in this role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall leadership for developing and growing our façade business including quality control of projects, managing delivery teams and client stakeholders, recruitment, business development and providing consulting and expert advice. You will work closely with other members of our team across multiple offices to support our clients UK wide, and will work in collaboration with the leadership of our Fire Engineering teams. This role is ideal for a highly experienced Façade Consultant with extensive commercial and management experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support daily operations and performance with a focus on driving technical and project excellence across the team.
- Foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment that produces high quality deliverables that meet and exceed client expectations, schedules, and budgets.
- Align around the Jensen Hughes Purpose and Principles to continuously improve our culture, enhancing the satisfaction of our employees and clients.
- Strong focus on growing and developing our team members with a focus on technical skillsets, project management, and career path development. Foster an environment that supports coaching and mentoring.
- Implement a regular operational cadence that aligns Operations, Business Development, and other Corporate Functions.
- Assess, evaluate, and report on overall team and individual team member performance. Guide them through their career development and diversification of skillsets as required.
- Prepare and drive operations budgets and hiring plans with a vision to grow our façade business and our people. Help drive operations led business development and marketing efforts in collaboration with market leaders and S&BD team.
- Build new and foster existing client relationships to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Collaborate with other Office leads, and Service line leaders, other internal business partners, and stakeholders to align on and execute business strategies.
- Evaluate performance and adjust strategies based on emergent opportunities and risks.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Chartered engineer with a degree in façade engineering
- Postgraduate with relevant experience leading teams in the technical consulting or engineering industry pertaining to facades.
- Extensive understanding of fire safety design legislation and guidance for a variety of buildings, including Building Regulations, Approved Document B, Fire Safety Order, and PAS 9980
- A knowledge of the fire risk assessment process and a general appreciation of general risk/hazards in the built environment
- Knowledge of refurbishment schemes and managing contractors on-site
- Successful track record of building, developing, positively engaging, and inspiring a diverse team of employees to elevated levels of performance.
- Proven success in relationship building, networking, and enhancing client relationships.
- Good business acumen with considerable experience in project management, people management, and operations led business development efforts.
- Solid understanding of key business functions (e.g., engineering, finance, business development)
- Ability to evaluate business metrics and adjust operational execution to achieve desired results.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Willing to travel throughout the area of responsibility as needed.
- The ability and desire to mentor and manage our young professionals including the Design Engineers
