Position Summary:

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Accounting to lead in our organization's comprehensive accounting operations. This executive-level role requires a hands-on, client-facing leader who will not only oversee the financial functions but also maintain ownership of clients, acting as an individual contributor in addition to managerial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership skills to ensure seamless operations, compliance, and financial accuracy.

 

The Role:

  • Lead and oversee the full spectrum of accounting functions
  • Develop and implement client-focused financial strategies that align with the client’s goals and ensure integrity
  • Provide leadership to accounting teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial statements, reports, and disclosures in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards
  • Maintain and update financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Serve as the primary liaison for audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate, transparent, and ready for review by external auditors
  • Serve as an individual contributor by directly managing accounting services for select clients
  • Oversee the review, analysis, and reconciliation of client financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all regulatory standards
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing financial insights, strategic recommendations, and expert accounting services
  • Work closely with the executive team to drive initiatives that support overall business objectives
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to assess financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions that drive efficiency and profitability
  • Mentor and develop accounting professionals, ensuring the team's growth aligns with both individual and organizational goals
  • Leverage expertise in digital assets (cryptocurrency, blockchain technology) to provide forward-thinking financial strategies for clients invested in this space
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of emerging digital asset trends and regulatory changes to guide client decisions
  • Assist with other ad hoc tasks as required

 

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in Public Audit, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or executive role
  • At least 2+ years of experience with digital assets, including cryptocurrency and blockchain technology
  • Proven experience managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance in a complex organizational setting
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with a deep understanding of GAAP, financial audits, and internal controls
  • Experience managing and servicing a portfolio of clients as an individual contributor
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving efficiency and accuracy in financial processes
