The Role

Jimini Health is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our software development efforts as a player-coach. In this hybrid role, you will combine hands-on coding with strategic leadership to shape the core of Jimini’s software products and engineering team. You will architect and implement technical infrastructure, collaborate with our Machine Learning team to bring AI features into production, support the development of client-facing applications, and foster a culture of technical excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with a track record of building and scaling impactful products.
  • Demonstrated success in a technical leadership or mentorship role, ideally in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience building end-to-end products for real users. You have deep experience building production grade backend infrastructure, and are willing and able to plug into frontend development when needed.
  • Strong hands-on coding skills, balanced with leadership abilities, including team building and process improvement.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and translate competing priorities into actionable plans.
  • Deep empathy for non-technical users, with a history of building solutions that solve real-world problems.
  • Experience engaging directly with users to uncover needs and iterating rapidly based on feedback.
  • Bonus: Experience with products focused on communication (text, video, audio), AI chatbots, and/or operating in regulated environments.
  • Technical stack expertise: Python, APIs, SQL, AWS/GCP, Terraform, Node, Next.js, React, React Native, TypeScript.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect: Drive the technical vision for Jimini, architecting the infrastructure of our own applications as well as various integrations with LLMs and other third-party solutions (e.g. EHRs).
  • Backend Development: Expand & optimize Jimini’s backend infrastructure to power core functionalities and support rapid growth.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement robust security measures to ensure Jimini’s platform is safe, secure, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Frontend Development: Oversee the creation of intuitive and engaging user interfaces that empower patients and therapists in their care journey; be willing to jump into FE development if needed.
  • Lead & Grow the Team: Recruit, mentor, and scale a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set high standards for engineering practices, including coding standards, documentation, and scalable development processes.
  • User-Centered Design: Engage with users, gather feedback, and implement solutions that meet client needs.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, Clinical Affairs, and other teams to ideate and develop innovative solutions that address the top needs and pain points of patients and therapists.
