POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees sanitation operations and acts as a back up to Sanitation Manager to ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed in a safe manner. Assists in supervising the department in a safe and effective manner. (Vernon facility) In Sanitation Supervisor’s absence, the Sanitation Manager will assume duties in as far as management of food safety and quality systems. In the event that the Sanitation Manager is not available, then the Production Manager on duty will be informed and handle the issue. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Monitor sanitation workers for a safe operation of equipment. Provide general supervision in the area sanitation procedures. Never allow equipment in need of repairs to be used. Issue a work order and follow up to ensure that required repairs have been made and that equipment is declared safe to operate. Train and instruct all personnel on the requirements of their job, to include area specific safety training, operation of equipment, GMP, and any other requirements as needed before worker starts working in sanitation. Document all training. Train sanitation personnel on proper cleaning procedures and use of chemicals and PPE. Perform daily plant inspections to identify and correct food safety deficiencies. Perform daily change out cleaning. Perform and document daily Pre-op sanitation verification with quality assurance. Perform Pro-clean swab after all allergens wash down. Work closely with Sanitation Foremen to schedule crew and activities on shift and between shifts for smooth operation. Work scheduling to include assigning sanitation jobs that maintain plant operation, Item Form Inspections, and items on the Master Sanitation Schedule to ensure ratings of “Superior” to “Excellent.” Do a weekly physical inventory on chemicals and document. Do visual inspection on equipment that has been cleaned by sanitation workers and sign off pre-operational form. Call QA to do a line clearance. Make department recommendation for improvements in efficiencies and safety. Document all daily, weekly, & monthly activities in the master sanitation in logbook. Maintain proper levels of inventory on sanitation supplies. Do visual inspection on equipment that has been cleaned by a sanitarian and sign off on Pre-op form. Call Q.A. to do a line clearance. Perform minor repairs to the sanitation equipment, installation of dispensers, small drain cleaning jobs, conduct monthly inspections as instructed, coordinate oil, trash and solid bakery waste removal program. Follows all OSHA safety rules and such as Lockout/Tagout, GMPs, and all food safety laws and regulations. Enforces all company rules in a fair and consistent manner. Report any food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Follows J&J Snack Food’s Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs). Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations. Other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES: To perform this job successfully, the Sanitation Supervisor must be self-motivated, able to problem solve, detail-oriented, and able to stay on task. Must be a self-starter and be able to accomplish a versatile and evolving workload. Excellent in all forms of communication. Skilled at PowerPoint design and ideation. Innovative, problem solver, flexible, and able to juggle multiple priorities. Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt well to change. Proven Leader People & Food Safety Mindset Must be flexible with schedule and days EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education and training: Prefer High School diploma or GED. Basic Food Plant Sanitation Certificate Forklift scissor’s lift Job-related experience: Minimum of three years’ experience at the level of Sanitation Foreman or Supervisor. Must have previous experience in the safe use of air hoses, pressure washers, floor scrubber, depositors, conveyor belts, large power mixers, trash compactors, cardboard bailer, sanitation chemicals & supplies, etc. Managerial experience See Item # 2. Technical knowledge and skills: Experience working in a food-processing environment. Knowledgeable in food safety standards. Read & write English. Must be bilingual: English/Spanish. Basic arithmetic.

US Salary Pay Range

$68,640 - $68,640 USD
