POSITION SUMMARY: Associate Manager / manage warehouse operations in Lancaster, CA in compliance with Dippin’ Dots policies and vision. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

     STAFFING 

Hire, Train, coach, and oversee 5-7 full time warehouse staff who handle materials, packing, and shipping. 

  • Motivate team towards the Dippin’ Dots vision and goals and ever-changing environment. 
  • Hire, train, and manage an additional 6-10 seasonal employees to work during the “peak” summer months who handle materials, packing and shipping. 
  • Lead by example and coach subordinates as needed according to visionary plan developed with your supervisor. 
  • Correct any ADP exceptions daily for subordinates that you have rights to. 
  • Follow up with employees throughout the day so that productivity is maximized, and schedules are followed to manage over time so that it is very minimal. 
  • Complete performance reviews on an annual basis. 
  • Develop and oversee assistant manager.  
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, Covid protocols, hygiene and security throughout the warehouse and with the staff at all times. 

Product Shipping 

  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis as per written guidelines. 
  • Daily manage stock levels and reconcile with accounting and software systems. 
  • Order and manage dry ice deliveries on a weekly basis. 
  • Follow up with vender on a daily basis as needed on peak summer deliveries of dry ice. 
  • Work directly with Director of Operations on product forecasting and product ordering. 
  • Order ice cream on a weekly basis from HQ in Paducah. Orders are placed 2 weeks in advance. 
  • Develop vender relationships and look for alternate suppliers where appropriate. 
  • Print orders daily in DDIM as needed in the absence of office help or if the volume requires extra help in the office. 
  • Oversee / manage office help to ensure everything ships in a timely manner. 
  • Be flexible with shipments daily and respond to communication (via email or telephone) from KY in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinate and follow up on LTL shipments daily. 
  • Develop new partnerships with carriers when it makes good business sense. 
  • Provide customer support on any CA Warehouse related topics for KY Corporate or the franchise system. 
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements, including local, state and federal laws. 
  • Conduct monthly inventory count and reconciliation and at the end of the year the yearly inventory count. 
  • Organize the warehouse on a daily and weekly basis to handle the expected volume of today, tomorrow and the next week. 

 

Equipment / Other 

  • Supervise the repair of equipment including freezers used in the field and all equipment used at the warehouse to your ability and train others to do so as well. 
  • Complete daily / weekly forklift inspections and act as necessary to refill fluids or call for service. 
  • Train and follow up on staff’s use of forklift. 
  • Make in field repairs and deliveries as assigned by supervisor or as needed. 
  • Prepare freezers and kiosks for shipping LTL as required and directed from equipment service group, equipment ordering group and sales team. 
  • Complete monthly safety inspections to include both warehouses and the fire extinguishers. 
  • Prepare for and complete annually a 3rd party audit of Warehouse operations. 
  • Currently this is done by Merieux in the fall. 

  

 

COMPETENCIES: Proficiency in logistics, inventory control, and process improvement. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

Required Education:   

High school diploma or GED 

Required Experience:   

2-3 years of warehouse shipping experience 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  

10 to 15 %
