Senior Mobile Engineer

Lehi, Utah

We are obsessed with the hero's journey at JobNimbus. Every person has a hero's journey—Hermione Granger, James T. Kirk, Frodo Baggins, Anna & Elsa, Nacho Libre, and even YOU! This is our “call to adventure” to come check out JobNimbus. What do you have to lose? You might make a few new friends, learn about a sick new company doing some amazing things, and maybe even land a new job!

Mission:

Lead the technical development of JobNimbus’s Android platform while pioneering cutting-edge, mobile-first AI features like our AI Photo Reports. Partnering across mobile and platform engineering, you will write clean, scalable Kotlin code and build end-to-end backend services and APIs that empower contractors in the field with instant, automated reporting.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Architect, build, and maintain production features in our multi-module Android codebase using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

  • Drive the end-to-end delivery of mobile-first AI capabilities, transforming job site photos into structured, automated reports.

  • Collaborate across the full stack by designing, building, and maintaining backend microservices and APIs (cloud/AWS, .NET/C#) to power mobile AI features.

  • Implement reactive, robust data flows using Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, Room local persistence, and custom networking layers.

  • Champion clean architecture (MVVM/MVI) and dependency injection across feature modules to maintain high testability and separation of concerns.

  • Write comprehensive test suites (unit tests, Compose UI tests, MockK) and profile app performance to ensure smooth, responsive user experiences.

  • Actively engage in code reviews, providing and receiving thoughtful architectural feedback to uphold a high engineering quality bar.

  • Daily leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to accelerate feature delivery, automate boilerplate, and optimize workflows.

What Makes You the Hero for This Job:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in modern Android development.

  • Advanced proficiency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and asynchronous programming with Coroutines & StateFlow/SharedFlow.

  • Strong architectural foundation with proven experience in clean multi-module architecture, MVVM/MVI design patterns, and dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Koin).

  • Hands-on experience with local persistence (Room) and networking with REST/OkHttp.

  • Willingness and ability to work across the stack, contributing to backend services, API contracts, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, event-driven concepts, or C#/.NET).

  • Active, daily practitioner of AI coding workflows (using tools like Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as a standard part of your development routine.

  • Solid testing discipline using JUnit, Compose UI testing, and mocking frameworks like MockK.

  • Strong collaborator who communicates proactively, values constructive peer reviews, and exhibits extreme ownership over product features.

  • Nice to have: Experience in SaaS, construction/contractor workflows, or working with on-device/cloud AI model integrations.

 Superpowers:

  • Extreme Ownership. You own the outcomes, drive initiatives, and solve problems proactively. If you need direction and someone to hold your hand, this job is not for you.
  • Customer Obsessed. Everything we build should leave our customers saying, "Aw dip. This product is off the charts cool. Whoever wrote that code deserves a raise!"
  • Proactive Learning. You stay ahead of the curve, continuously learning and implementing cutting-edge technologies.
  • Team Commitment. You build, mentor, and lead a high-performance engineering team that delivers results together.
  • Self Awareness. You know your strengths, weaknesses, and how to surround yourself with the right talent to succeed.
