ABOUT THE ROLE

The Content Strategist for Verified Champions (TikTok Focus) will be a key member of the Verified Champions team, part of Verified for Climate - a global UN x Purpose effort, supported by TikTok, to combat mis and disinformation and amplify impactful, accurate climate content online. 

This role will focus on creating, curating, and guiding short-form video content to address global challenges, focusing on climate change, and mis and disinformation related to climate. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with expertise using TikTok, holds an interest in spotting social media trends, and a passion for empowering diverse voices online. The person in this role will produce, design and implement content ideas to support Verified Champions’ and equip them with the right tools to maximise their presence and impact on TikTok. 

Role Details: Content Expert/Strategist for Verified Champions (TikTok Focus)

  • Reports to: Project Lead
  • Employment Type: Freelance Contract (3 months at 14 hours a week, with likely extension depending on project timeline)
  • Location: Remote, with preference for candidates based in the UK or willing to work UK time zone hours. 
  • Travel Expectations: If required, there may be occasional travel to participate or lead training workshops/in-person meetups with Verified Champions around the world.
  • Proposed Start Date: Immediate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging, trend-responsive TikTok content briefs that aligns with Verified’s campaigns and messaging.
  • As needed, provide training and mentorship to Verified Champions on TikTok best practices, content creation, and platform strategies.
  • Familiarity with TikTok features (e.g., Duets, Lives) to drive engagement and expand reach.
  • Collaborate with regional campaigners (Brazil, UK and Indonesia) to design and execute TikTok-specific content plans, based on the strategy/goals for each country.
  • Monitor and analyze TikTok trends, and inform the team + Verified Champions.
  • Oversee content performance metrics to refine strategies and support Champions in optimizing their posts.
  • Partner with Champions to co-create content.
  • Support multimedia production efforts, including scripting, editing, and reviewing TikTok videos.
  • Stay updated on changes to TikTok’s community guidelines, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.

 

ABOUT YOU

Competencies/Capabilities Needed:

  • Experience: 5+ years in content creation, social media management, or digital communications, with at least 2 years focused on TikTok or short-form video platforms. 
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to align content strategies/briefs with main campaign goals.
  • Communications Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to translate complex topics into relatable, visual stories.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Adept at building relationships with global, multicultural teams and community leaders.
  • Climate Awareness: Interest in climate, and knowledge of general climate change debates/topics a big plus!
