As we enter our next phase of growth focused on go-to-market expansion, innovation remains at the core of everything we do. This is your opportunity to help build the future of talent acquisition from the ground up.

Job Title: Full-Stack Engineer (AI & Automation)

Type: Contractor / Freelancer (Remote), Opportunity to go full-time

Hourly Rate: $45-55/PH, DOE

Team Size: Small, 5-person startup team (within a larger organization)

About the Role

We’re looking for a mid-level full-stack engineer to help us build and scale our candidate-to-job matching platform. You’ll work across our stack — from the website front end to backend APIs, from AI-powered matching logic to automating personalized email campaigns.

You’ll be the junior of two engineers (working alongside a senior full-stack engineer) and collaborate closely with a part-time product lead. This is a fast-paced startup environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable moving quickly, iterating rapidly, and contributing across multiple areas of the product.

As part of the interview process, you will be asked to complete a skills-assessment.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain features for the website front end (20%)

  • Develop backend APIs and services (30%)

  • Contribute to our AI-driven matching system (30%), including integrating and tuning models via OpenAI APIs, and contributing to decision making around extending our AI tooling.

  • Support email automation (15%), including segmentation, personalization, and SendGrid integration

  • Integrate and optimize connections to external data sources (webhooks, APIs, internal databases)

  • Collaborate with the product lead and senior engineer to ship features quickly and reliably

  • Troubleshoot, test, and improve system performance

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: HTML, Javascript, Bootstrap, Linux

  • Backend: Python, AWS, Postgres, Linux

  • Data & AI: Snowflake, OpenAI APIs, custom AI matching workflows

  • Email: SendGrid

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • Proven full-stack development experience (front and back end)

  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered solutions, especially for matching or recommendation systems

  • Strong skills in Python, Postgres, Linux and AWS

  • Experience integrating AI APIs (OpenAI or similar) into production systems

  • Background working in small, fast-moving teams

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with email automation (SendGrid or similar)

  • Familiarity with job market or recruitment data

  • Exposure to Snowflake or other data warehouses

  • Experience with CFML - Adobe / Lucee Cold Fusion

Who You Are

  • You thrive in a startup environment — comfortable with rapid iteration and wearing multiple hats

  • You’re execution-focused — more of a builder and problem solver than an architect

  • You’re comfortable being the junior engineer on a small technical team but confident taking ownership of your work

  • You enjoy working remotely and can manage your own schedule effectively

#LI-remote

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for full time employees
  • #AnywhereAugust - We support remote work experiences to expand perspectives and personal growth
  • Professional development budget and conference attendance
  • Opportunity to shape the future of an AI-first company with live traction
  • Direct access to industry veterans and thought leaders
  • Front-row seat to creating a new category in talent acquisition through customer-centric innovation

Ready to Join Us?

If you're excited about building the operational foundation for the next generation of talent acquisition technology while championing customer-centric problem solving, we'd love to hear from you. This role offers the unique opportunity to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution at a company that's already proving its value in the market.

The interview process for qualified candidates may include an asynchronous video interview first round, special project requirement, background screenings, request for references upon offer.

Jobstream is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
