The Role

Own the architecture and a fair share of the code across our AWS-serverless back-end and Next.js front-end, driving velocity, reliability, and international scale for our engineering team

What You’ll be Doing:

• Set & evolve architecture for our NextJS front-end along with our SST-deployed serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL).
• Ship critical features hands-on, roughly 50% of your time, in TypeScript (Node.js) and React/Next.js.
• Harden the platform with idempotent patterns, observability (DataDog, Sentry), caching, internationalization, and CI/CD automation.
• Guide front-end patterns (App Router, Tailwind, shadcn/ui) and integrations (Shopify, Stripe, Contentful, Twilio, Algolia, Veriff).
• Unblock the team by improving workflows, reviews, and internal tooling (admin dashboards, scripts).
• Collaborate with leadership on product road-mapping, build-vs-buy calls, and tech vision.

Core Qualifications:

• You’ve been hands-on regardless of company size; your recent pull‑requests show production TS/JS in Node.js and React.
• Proven green‑field architect who can take systems from idea to production while balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Excellent communicator able to influence across product, design, and operations in a fully‑remote setting.
• Proficiency integrating with third‑party APIs and webhooks

Preferred Qualifications:

• E‑commerce, marketplace, or auction expertise building transactional systems that handle payments, dynamic pricing, and user‑driven commerce at scale.
• OR Early‑stage startup track record. You’ve been among the first engineering hires and thrive in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments

Bonus Points:

• Shopify proficiency
• Have developed event‑driven, idempotent patterns across serverless and containerized workloads.
• Experience with AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3)
• Experience optimizing both SQL and NoSQL queries
• You have worked with SST, CDK, or Terraform or some other form of Infrastructure as Code.
• Security & compliance experience (PCI, GDPR, CCPA).
• Previous experience with Marketing Tech (HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, GA)
