Role Summary

The Experience Design Strategist will collaborate closely with studio leadership, architectural and interior designers, graphic designers and SME’s to co-author materials focused on exploring and identifying novel opportunities for our clients, their business, and their customers across a variety of project types. The design strategist conducts research, develops strategic narratives, proposes design direction, and writing for brands, organizations, or customer facing outlets.   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Work closely with design team and external clients to understand their needs and translate them into design solutions.  
  • Present and communicate design concepts effectively to clients.  
  • Conduct research to gather insights and inspiration for design projects.  
  • Provide feedback on details in every aspect of design to ensure optimal user experience.  
  • Work with the design team to continuously refine and improve design elements to create memorable experiences.  
  • Stay updated on market trends, consumer behavior, and emerging technologies relevant to experience design.

To thrive in this role, you are an experienced design strategist who has been working in the interior design / architectural industry to help inform interior designers on design from the lens of the experience. You will work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams across Journey and present and work directly with clients. You have strong conceptual skills and use market research and data to inform your design strategy. You will also have:  

  • B.Arch. or B.A Interior Design
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role  
  • Stellar presentation skills  
  • Strong documentation skills using MS PowerPoint, Google slides and Adobe InDesign  
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and spatial design knowledge
  • Experience with collaborative work platforms like Miro or Mural  
  • Experience working independently and with multi-disciplinary teams  
  • Experience self-managing deadlines and tasks  
  • Experience working with established brands in retail, hospitality, entertainment, education, or healthcare industries is a plus.   

 

In the spirit of flexibility, please be aware that this position involves a hybrid work arrangement, incorporating both a 2-day remote and a 3-day in-person commitments at our studio in NYC.

We follow pay transparency, meaning we publish a salary range for each role. Salary offers are made within this range and based on your experience and qualification for the role.

Salary Pay Range

$90,000 - $115,000 USD
