Job Summary

JRM is seeking a Construction Risk Manager to join their team. This role will report directly to the Director of Risk Management.  The Construction Risk Manager will work with the team providing an integrated risk management strategy to ensure that all interests of JRM, their clients and other stakeholders are protected utilizing multiple risk management strategies including but not limited to contractual risk transfer, risk mitigation through safety and other measures and insurance.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review and negotiate contracts and RFPs in connection with insurance requirements and other risk related matters.
  • Support all project insurance placements, including collecting and analyzing data; assist in the preparation of underwriting submissions.
  • Work closely with project teams, safety representatives, legal teams and other stakeholders to ensure effective risk management practices are implemented and maintained.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures and best practices for the organization.
  • Oversee subcontractor prequalification as related to subcontractor insurance policies as well as for participation in our SDI program.
  • Work with JRM’s compliance team to ensure subcontractors meet JRM’s and its clients’ insurance requirements; Enroll projects in SDI as well as JRM’s Masters Builders Risk program.
  • Develop and deliver reports to management and other internal stakeholders, highlighting key risks, mitigation strategies and project status.
  • Collaborate with the finance department on audits as well as insurance accounting when necessary.
  • Be an internal resource to our estimating, purchasing and project teams with regards to risk management and insurance related issues.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in the field of NY Construction Risk Management as a risk manager, broker, or both.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance as it applies to construction including CIPs, SDI and Builders Risk
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project management and risk management principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer service.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Resourceful in solving problems.
  • Change management skills to support change and new initiatives.
  • Adept in managing multiple projects under deadlines with changing priorities.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

 

Computer Systems

  • Proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

 

Salary Information

  • To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary for this role is $175,000 - 200,000.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
