Job Summary
The Project Engineer (PE) supports the project team by managing technical and administrative tasks across project phases. With general to proficient understanding of construction workflows, the PE contributes to project success through coordination of submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedules while gaining independence and deeper construction insight.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and long lead materials; track status and follow up.
- Manage subcontractor documentation and COIs with limited oversight.
- Assist with preparation and tracking of Change Orders, including collecting pricing and backup documentation.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation in Procore.
- Review leveling sheets and scopes of work with moderate understanding.
- Support permit tracking and documentation needs.
- Attend and participate in project meetings; communicate clearly with clients and subs.
- Track schedule milestones and help identify risks or delays.
- Begin developing the ability to identify scope discrepancies or schedule impacts.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2 – 3 years of experience in an Assistant Superintendent or Project Engineer role
- General knowledge of construction practices, drawings, and terminology.
- Proficient in reading construction documents and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of submittal and RFI processes.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Procore; moderate knowledge of MS Project.
- Ability to manage multiple administrative tasks and deadlines.
- Adheres to JRM Core Values and demonstrates growth in leadership and ownership.
Computer Systems
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Timberline (preferred but not required), On-Screen Takeoff (preferred but not required)
Salary Information
- To the extent this position is performed in California, the annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000.
