Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key contributor within JRM’s Accounting Department, playing an integral role in the Company’s financial close, reporting, and internal controls. The Senior Accountant supports accurate and timely financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with multi‑state regulatory requirements through detailed account reconciliations and analysis of accounting operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated workpapers, including review and analysis of the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and record journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist in month-end and year-end close activities.
- Actively maintain and review General Ledger accounts and activity, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with preparation of accruals and work-in-progress schedule.
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated comparative financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement.
- Assist in preparing documentation and supporting schedules for annual income tax return filings and audit requests.
- Assist with sales and use tax compliance across multiple states and jurisdictions, including preparation, filing, and payment of returns.
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects and financial analysis.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to accounting workflows, policies and internal controls.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, construction accounting is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Computer Systems
- Excellent computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Office product applications (ex. Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
Salary Information
- To the extent this role is performed in New York City, the annual salary range is $95,000 - $120,000.
