We are seeking a VP of Technology to lead the design, development, and operation of the technology platform that powers Jukebox Health's clinical programs and operational infrastructure. This role owns the full engineering function, including software development, infrastructure, security, and compliance. The VP will ensure that Jukebox's technology infrastructure is enterprise-ready, enabling the company to meet the rigorous technical and security requirements of large MCO and MLTSS partnerships.

The VP of Technology will own our technical strategy and vision. This role is responsible for the roadmap, building and leading a high-performing engineering team, and establishing the culture and practices that will carry Jukebox through its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, establishing a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Own hiring strategy and capacity planning for engineering team
  • Establish engineering processes, standards, and best practices that support quality, velocity, and scalability
  • Foster a proactive culture of efficiency and accountability across the engineering organization, positioning the team as drivers of change and innovation at the company
  • Leverage LLMs, MCP’s, and AI development tools to accelerate the pace of development while improving quality

Platform, Product & Infrastructure

  • Partner with Operations, Growth, and Clinical Innovation to prioritize development efforts that deliver the most business value
  • Translate the strategic objectives of the company into clearly articulated technology strategy and roadmap
  • Lead architecture decisions that balance speed of delivery with long-term scalability
  • Ensure engineering delivers reliable, performant, and user-friendly products that meet the needs of internal operations teams, clinical staff, and health plan partners
  • Evangelize a culture of AI utilization across the organization, building out the tools and infrastructure to support experimentation and adoption
  • Own platform reliability, performance, and availability, establishing SLAs and monitoring practices appropriate for healthcare operations
  • Drive operational excellence through automation, observability, and continuous improvement of deployment practices

Security, Compliance & Integration

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive security program, including policies, controls, and incident response procedures
  • Own HIPAA compliance from a technical perspective, ensuring appropriate safeguards for PHI across all systems and integrations
  • Lead SOC 2 certification efforts and maintain ongoing compliance with audit requirements
  • Maintain security best practices including access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, and security monitoring
  • Design and oversee integration architecture for health plan data exchanges, including eligibility files, claims data, and care management system connections
  • Manage IT function (currently staffed by single contributor), and oversee device management, SaaS procurement, provisioning, and support
  • Lead technical implementation of Health Information Exchange (HIE) integrations and other clinical data feeds

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles (Director or VP level)
  • Experience building and leading engineering teams including hiring, developing, and retaining talent
  • Deep technical expertise across the full stack, with hands-on experience in modern cloud architectures (Our stack: Ruby on Rails, React native, TypeScript, React, NextJS, nodeJS, Salesforce/Apex)
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software products in a high-growth environment
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data security and compliance including HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 certification 
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and integration patterns (HL7, FHIR, EDI, etc.)
  • Innovative leader with the ability to prioritize work based on company strategy
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience partnering closely with Product teams to define and deliver roadmap priorities
  • Strong understanding of latest AI development practices

Preferred

  • Experience in a venture-backed startup or high-growth healthcare technology company
  • Background working with health plans, Medicaid managed care, or LTSS populations
  • Experience with Health Information Exchange (HIE) integrations or health plan data feeds
  • Familiarity with care management platforms and clinical workflow systems
  • Knowledge of value-based care models and outcomes measurement from a technical perspective
