Role Purpose

At Jungheinrich, we see sustainability as our economic, ecological and social obligation. With our energy-efficient and dismantling-friendly trucks and our intelligent automation solutions, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions in material handling and contribute to the establishment of a circular economy.

As part of our climate and environmental protection efforts, we are working on measures at our own sites and along the entire value chain to reduce negative impacts associated with us. You support our UK Sales Unit and the German Headquarters (HQ) in this.

 

Role Responsibilities 

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and standards in the UK and support international material compliance process for the HQ.
  • Prepare and submit sustainability reports to regulatory bodies and internal and external stakeholders in the UK.
  • Update and incorporate technical changes in sustainability group policies at the HQ.

Data Analysis and Management:

  • Collect, analyse, and manage data related to sustainability, including the maintenance of inventory in our material compliance software (SAP Product and Reach Compliance) and the calculation of product carbon footprints for the HQ and UK.
  • Support with administrative data inquiries and reporting (e. g. supporting groupwide data collection for annual reporting requirements and/or ratings and rankings) for the HQ and UK.
  • Use data to identify areas for improvement and track the effectiveness of sustainability projects for the HQ and UK.

Sustainable Procurement:

  • Support the procurement team to ensure sustainable sourcing of materials, services and suppliers for the UK by supporting answering sustainability related questions occurring from future Ariba-process.

Sustainability Strategies:

  • Assist in the creation and execution of comprehensive sustainability plans for the UK.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of sustainability projects for the HQ and UK.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders e. g. to promote sustainability goals (UK) or to communicate with suppliers during data processing requests (HQ).
  • Support the UK CSR-management by answering specific sustainability requests.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness about sustainability practices for the UK.
  • Proofreading and corrections of sustainability communication material for the HQ.

Research and Innovation:

  • Stay generally updated on the latest sustainability trends and technologies in industry.

 

Role Requirements

  • First working experience sustainability/environmental administration role now looking to progress to the next level in an advisor/specialist role.
  • Professional background in the fields of data science, environmental sciences, sustainability, business administration, engineering or comparable.
  • Understanding of carbon footprint analysis and reduction strategies.
  • Familiarity with European and UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks, e. g. Green House Gas Protocol, Battery Regulation, REACH, RoHS and/or standards such as ISO 14001, 50001, 14040, 14067.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting compliance reports.
  • Data driven, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting tools, SAP knowledge would be favourable.
  • Confident handling of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about sustainability and environmental issues.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, German language skills are an advantage.

You will work 60% for the German Headquarters and 40% for the UK Sales Unit.
