We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated team player who can work to, and maintain, our high workshop standards and wants to join a multinational engineering company.
At Jungheinrich we pride ourselves on having the most highly trained engineers within the material handling industry, so we are looking for high calibre trainees to join our Apprenticeship Programme. The apprenticeship offers a three-and-a-half-year training programme.
We maintain a wide range of equipment from basic manually operated pallet trucks, up to highly complex, fully automated storage and retrieval systems, all on behalf of our customers who are at the heart of our operation.
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships combine hands-on job training with academic study, allowing individuals to learn a role while completing a nationally recognised programme. There is no age limit to completing an Apprenticeship in the UK.
As an apprentice you will:

Our Engineering Apprenticeship
The Level 3 apprenticeship standard: Vehicle Damage Paint Technician will provide you with an expert working knowledge and understanding of:
- Machinery refinishing materials such as paint and fillers and their application techniques to deliver quality results.
- Drying and curing techniques use in the finishing of equipment.
- Body Paint Repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g. mixing systems, spray guns and nozzles, paint.
- Substrates such as metal (Steel/Alloy) along with carbon fibre & glass reinforced plastic to select the correct refinish process and materials.
- Safe handling and risks in the management of solvents, high voltage components, conventional and alternate fuelled vehicles and other areas of significant risk.
- Calculation / estimation of paint volume requirements per job.
- Health & Safety and compliance requirements of a collision repair business, such as control of substances.
- Their direct commercial productivity and efficiency impact of their role within the whole repair process such as understanding causes for paint defects to reduce waste and the techniques required to prevent these e.g. paint runs. The impact of rework on resources and reputation.
- Quality control process and the implications of poor-quality repairs.
A reasonable amount of travel to and from Bolton College will be expected, and you may be required to work at different locations from time to time. Travel to and from college will be fully funded. As a Jungheinrich Apprentice, you will be supported by a dedicated mentor and follow a structured development programme covering all aspects of material handling equipment and maintenance. You will study to gain the Level 3 apprenticeship standard: Vehicle Damage Paint Technician, with the end goal of becoming a fully qualified Workshop Paint Technician.
What are we looking for?
You need to be motivated and committed to succeed on the Apprenticeship Programme by demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop as you will be taking instruction throughout the three-year programme.
Being an engineer in Jungheinrich will require you to engage with our customers, so you will need to have good verbal and listening skills as well as coming across in a confident manner with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Finally, you will need exceptional IT skills and be able to work as part of a team to give a great service to our customers.
Your Qualifications:
- Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in Maths
- Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in English
- Must have GCSE* grade 9 – 4 (A* - C) in three other subjects
*GCSE or equivalent qualification
Mobility Requirements:
A full UK drivers’ licence is required for this apprenticeship.
