We are currently looking for a Senior Commercial Automation Engineer to join our commercial team based in Milton Keynes.

Role Purpose

  • Design, build, and scale production-ready automations and data solutions that remove manual work from Commercial processes.
  • Replace legacy Excel tools with robust, database backed, workflow driven solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps, and SQL – supported by Python/VBA/Java where appropriate.
  • Act as the Commercial team’s hands‑on builder who works independently, partners with process owners to prioritise the backlog, delivers outcomes quickly, and owns results end‑to‑end.

 

Role Responsiblities

Process discovery & design

  • Map as is processes, quantify operational pain points, define and implement system supported process improvements.

Solution build (Power Platform & code)

  • Build Power Automate flows to replace manual processes.
  • Build Power Apps for data entry, approvals, and controls.
  • Create Python scripts for data transformation, scheduled jobs, or API integrations (nice to have).
  • Use Java where needed for specific integrations or existing in house components (nice to have).

Operations & support

  • Monitor automations; triage failures and root cause fix.
  • Produce concise documentation, and training guides.
  • Run adoption sessions; collect feedback from stakeholders; iterate based on outcomes.

Maintain or migrate existing tools

  • Design and implement SQL schemas.
  • Validate integrity of existing Excel sales tool suite incl. pricing tool, residual value or financial renewal (JFS) tool 
  • Where appropriate migrate legacy VBA Excel workbooks to sustainable platforms.
  • Provide regular training on Sales tools | Refresher sessions, training for new starters or highlighting new features

 

Role Requirements

  • Communication: Can present trade offs, influence priorities and able to translate business needs into technical builds.
  • Several years of experience in a process improvement/automation or data engineering role within a business function (Commercial, Finance, Operations, or similar).
  • Challenger Mindset with a strong desire to learn how we operate, make suggestions of how we could improve and develop these suggestions

 

Competencies

  • Power Platform: Strong Power Automate; hands on Power Apps (Canvas; Model Driven a plus).
  • Databases/SQL: Schema design, stored procedures, optimisation, and data migration.
  • Programming: Python (automation, data processing); VBA (legacy support/migration); Java is a plus.
  • Excel to database migration: Normalisation, validation, and access control.
  • SAP SD, SAP CO and SAP AfO is a plus
