What We're Looking For

We are a dynamic and fast-growing EdTech startup focused on decodable reading solutions. We’re on a mission to revolutionize literacy education by providing schools and districts with tools that improve reading outcomes for students. As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will play a critical role in driving new business by identifying and engaging potential customers, including schools, districts, and educational organizations. This role is primarily outbound calling, but will also include email outreach and social media engagement to generate and qualify leads, ultimately setting the stage for the Director of Partnerships to close deals.

What You'll Do at Just Right Reader

  • Prospecting: Identify potential customers and create new leads through cold calling, email campaigns, and social media outreach.
  • Lead Qualification: Assess the needs of prospects and determine whether they align with our products and services. Qualify leads based on a set of predefined criteria.
  • Sales Meetings: Schedule meetings for the Director of Partnerships with qualified leads to discuss potential partnerships and sales opportunities.
  • CRM Management: Accurately log all prospect interactions and sales activities in HubSpot CRM. Maintain up-to-date records and track progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the sales manager and team to refine and improve outreach strategies, sales scripts, and overall sales processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment in messaging, target markets, and lead qualification.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide valuable insights from prospects and customers to help improve product offerings and sales strategies.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in sales development, lead generation, or outbound sales within the education or technology space, or prior experience working as an Educator. A great role for transitioning teachers!
  • Location : You must live in one of the states listed. While this role will not be heavy travel long term, initial travel in the state of residency will be required to start.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage with prospects over the phone, via email, and on social media.
  • CRM Proficiency: Familiarity with HubSpot CRM or similar platforms to manage and track leads and sales activities a plus.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing sales processes and evolving customer needs.
  • Team Player: Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work within a team and contribute to overall sales success.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine interest in the education sector and helping schools improve literacy outcomes for students.
