Senior Manager/Associate Director, Payroll & Equity

What You’ll Do:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, talented and growing organization as the Payroll & Equity Plan Administrator.  This role will report directly to the Corporate Controller and partner directly with the finance team, and cross-functional colleagues.  This role is a “hands-on” position with direct responsibility for Kailera’s payroll and equity plan operations, month and quarter-end closes, as well as being a key contributor to the implementation of projects and systems upgrades.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees using ADP Workforce Now (or similar platform), ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Stay up to date with all payroll regulations and requirements, including tax filings, year-end processing (W-2s), and internal audits. Ensure compliance with company policies, federal laws, and state laws
  • Collaborate with Finance and People & Culture functions to manage the payroll components of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored benefits
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure all equity life cycle transactions, including but not limited to award grants, releases and exercises, terminations and cancellations, are handled accurately
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll and equity-related inquiries, addressing employee questions promptly and professionally
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline payroll and equity operations, leveraging technology and best practices to improve accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage and maintain payroll and equity systems, including the implementation of software updates, configuration changes, and integrations with other financial systems
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records for internal and external audits and assist with compliance audits as needed. Ensure the confidentiality and security of data, maintaining data integrity and accuracy of employee records
  • Assist with payroll and equity-related month-end close, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide accounting support for special projects and ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as necessary

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong computing skills, including experience with commonly used Financial Systems (e.g. NetSuite, ADP, Shareworks)
  • Willingness to ‘build the plane while flying’ and comfort with ambiguity
  • Flexible, personable team player

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a biotech or pharmaceutical organization a plus

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Accounting, Finance, or Business

Salary Range

$136,000 - $170,000 USD
