What You’ll Do:

The Vice President of Global Value and Access at Kailera Therapeutics will be a pivotal leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive market access strategies to ensure broad patient access to Kailera's innovative therapies. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role will spearhead efforts to optimize pricing, reimbursement, and health economics strategies across global markets. The VP of Global Value and Access will lead cross-functional collaborations to align access strategies with clinical and commercial objectives, driving successful product launches and sustained market growth. This role will be critical in establishing Kailera's presence as a leader in the incretin and cardiometabolic space, significantly contributing to the company's long-term commercial success.

 

Preferred location: Waltham, MA or San Diego, CA (onsite or hybrid 2-3 days per week).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, agility, and collaboration
  • Create and implement comprehensive market access plans to support the commercialization of Kailera's portfolio, including the lead GLP-1/GIP dual agonist, KAI-9531.
  • Develop and implement pricing and reimbursement strategies to ensure broad patient access and optimize long-term commercial success.
  • Lead the development of HEOR strategies to demonstrate the value of Kailera's therapies to payers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clinical development, regulatory, marketing, manufacturing, and business development teams to ensure access strategies align with corporate objectives and market dynamics.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including payers, healthcare systems, and key opinion leaders (KOLs), to support successful market entry and growth.
  • Utilize market research, competitive intelligence, and business analytics to inform access strategies and optimize pricing models.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and policymakers to influence healthcare policies and ensure favorable market access conditions.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology Market Access. Expertise in market access, health economics, and pricing strategies, including in-depth knowledge of US and Global payer environments, including coverage, reimbursement, value drivers, formulary management, and Health Technology Assessments (HTA) in key markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative global market access strategies that align with Kailera's long-term goals and market opportunities. Proven success in translating strategy into actionable plans and delivering successful product launches and market penetration.
  • Strong skills in collaborating with marketing, development, regulatory, medical affairs, manufacturing, and business development teams to ensure seamless product development and commercialization. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners to maintain strategic alignment and achieve performance objectives.
  • Experience in building, leading, and mentoring high-performing teams, including in a hybrid environment. Ability to foster a culture of innovation, accountability, agility, and collaboration, ensuring the team is positioned for rapid growth and successful commercialization
  • Expertise in utilizing complex clinical data, market research, competitive intelligence, and business analytics to inform market access strategies and pricing models.
  • Capable of navigating the complexities of a fast-growing biotech environment, while maintaining focus on global market expansion and long-term value creation. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands effectively

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in market access within the cardiometabolic, obesity, or endocrinology therapeutic areas, with successful launches and scaling of related products, particularly incretins (GIP/GLP-1).
  • Significant experience in developing and implementing US contracting strategies and engaging with employers to ensure broad access and favorable reimbursement conditions.
  • Proven experience in building and leading market access functions within a new organization, company, or product. Ability to establish foundational market access strategies and structures in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Experience in developing and executing market access strategies for consumer-driven brands, including self-pay models.

 

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in business, marketing, life sciences, or a related field is required.
  • An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred, particularly with a focus on marketing, business administration, or healthcare management.

Salary Range

$245,000 - $320,000 USD
