Staff Accountant

What You’ll Do:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, talented and growing organization as a Staff Accountant.  This role will primarily be responsible for financial close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and other frameworks, supporting audits, and other ad hoc projects. This role provides an opportunity for professional growth as Kailera continues to evolve and mature.

 

Preferred location: Waltham, MA (onsite or hybrid 2-3 days per week).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy of financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Perform designated areas of the month-end close process, including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation
  • Maintain the bank reconciliation process, fixed asset module process and other close-related processes such as Prepaid Expenses, Accounts Payable, Accrued Expenses, etc.
  • Perform balance sheet and income statement variance analyses for related responsible close areas
  • Support the finance team in coordination with external auditors for both financial statement audits and internal control testing by providing appropriate documentation and resolving inquiries
  • Work collaboratively, both within finance and cross-functionally, to support the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls
  • Support the finance team and the company with various analyses and ad hoc projects
  • Assist with special projects, such as system implementations and business process improvements, as necessary

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Strong computing skills, including experience with commonly used Financial Systems (e.g. NetSuite)
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, including U.S. GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others
  • Willingness to be a flexible, personable team player
  • Prioritize a wide range of tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity, confidentiality, and professional skepticism
  • Identify inefficiencies, offer solutions, and implement positive change
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience or eagerness to be part of a fast-growing organization and to make a positive impact
  • Willingness to ‘build the plane while flying’ and comfort with ambiguity

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA license preferred
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred
  • Background in public accounting is preferred
  • Experience in a SOX compliant company is preferred

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Masters’ degree in the field of Accounting, Finance, or Business

Salary Range

$70,000 - $90,000 USD
