
Procurement Specialist, Equipment

Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Procurement Specialist, who will work under the supervision of the Senior Director, Supply Chain & Procurement. Responsibilities include interacting with the Kairos Power manufacturing and engineering team to identify opportunities to locate and purchase new or used equipment that can create lower total cost savings and lead time reductions while adhering to the strict quality requirements Act as team leader on sending out equipment RFQ’s, terms and conditions negotiations, managing risk, schedule and expediting on various multiple projects. Communicate promptly any problems and develop solutions. Establish accurate progress and cost and limit overall risk by contract management to completion. Establish and negotiate Purchase Orders and Subcontracts with terms and conditions favorable to Kairos Power.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal customers in fulfilling the procurement and manufacturing process
- Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with reliable suppliers for specified supplies, while understanding the procurement processes and internal systems. Locating and assessment of new and used equipment for purchase and understanding the manufacturing processes.
- Purchase requirements of assigned materials at the lowest long-term cost for the quantity, quality and delivery required.
- Expedite materials when required and handle any unanticipated requests or other problems on equipment and materials purchased.
- Negotiate the lowest possible long-term cost through competitive bidding and market supply knowledge.
- Work closely with project teams, engineering, communicating, and coordinating related purchases, problems, evaluation of equipment, minimizing risks, etc.
- Lead in all communication with suppliers.
- Provide accurate production materials standard costs as may be required.
- Provide Supply Chain and Procurement Manufacturing support on internal fabrication and machining at all of Kairos Power’s facilities.
- Identify and develop new suppliers and familiarity with process piping material and equipment both domestically and internationally and perform audits and evaluations on suppliers.
- Maintain all purchasing databases and reporting to ensure dependent departments have prompt, accurate information.
- Monitors supplier performance metrics and implements corrective actions as required.
- Contributes to sustainability and corporate responsibility goals by considering environmental and ethical sourcing practices.
- Experience with contract management lifecycle and negotiation of terms and conditions.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and procurement functions.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field (Supply Chain or Business) or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 5+ years of related experience (developing and implementing purchase orders, contracts, strategic sourcing specified equipment and materials, commodities, purchasing operations in a power generation OEM, Nuclear or manufacturing/fabricating environment
- Strong knowledge in manufacturing principals to support make vs. buy decisions.
- Inventory and control in a manufacturing or fast paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP requisition process and procurement systems. Coupa preferred but not required.
- Ability to comprehend and apply Procurement principles, policies, concepts and standards, and procedures, INCO Terms, including price analysis, negotiations, ethics, terms and conditions and Procurement law.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to independently plan, schedule and carry out work assignments, initiate and participate in the improvement of procurement practices.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
