Senior Software Engineer

About the role

In this position, you will have an opportunity to make major contributions to our next-generation transportation and logistics software for the marine industry. You will work together with colleagues to define system requirements and build state-of-the-art software. You will be working in a team of C++ and Java engineers with extensive expertise in the domain. We are looking for an engineer who has solid Java and C++ application and architecture experience who is a quick learner and excited to work in container terminal domain with excellent communication skills and be able to maintain ownership of large engineering projects through their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and support. This position has unique opportunities for growth in both the functional and technical directions. 

Responsibilities  

• Join an Agile team and work with cross functional teams involving Product Management, QA, Documentation, Support and Professional Service 

• Work on Bugs and new product features for our global customers 

• Take end-to-end ownership of your part of the functionality 

• Create secure, scalable, and highly available distributed applications. 

• Participate in code, feature reviews, and provide feedback. 

• Keep up to date on new technologies and share your knowledge 

• Participate in design reviews and requirements development to ensure the use of specific design approaches and parameters. 

• Collaborate with your peers to help achieve the company goals of quality, innovation and customer success. 

• Be a key member of the team and ensure the development process is followed and collaborate with current team members in technical activities. 

• Mentor and coach other team members. 

Qualifications  

• BE/BTech/MCA/MSC IT with 5 - 9 years of experience 

• Strong knowledge of and experience with object-oriented methodologies, enterprise application architectures, and design pattern 

• Expert Knowledge of application development using Java and JEE stack (e.g. JDBC, JMX JMS) 

• Experience in creating RESTful applications using Spring Boot and spring frame work 

• Highly experienced with software development processes, particularly software design and unit/integration testing using JUnit. 

• Good understanding of application software, secure coding, scalability, performance, and reliability aspects 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative, and iterative programming environment. Experience with agile development approaches is a plus 

• A highly motivated individual, who is ready to accept challenges, continually innovate and learn, and help others 

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 

• Fluent in written and spoken English 

• Experience with relational database management systems. 

• Experience with messaging technologies like Kafka, and JMS is a plus 

• Having Good knowledge and experience in C++ is an added advantage 

• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax and various framework is a plus 

• Knowledge in Kafka or streaming data and multi-threading is good to have 

• App Server experience – Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss is good to have
