About Sebetralstat

Sebetralstat is an investigational, novel oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor for the treatment of hereditary angioedema (HAE). We have filed multiple regulatory applications seeking approval of sebetralstat as the first oral, on-demand treatment for HAE in individuals aged 12 and older, with ongoing studies exploring its use in children aged 2 to 11. If approved, sebetralstat has the potential to become the foundational therapy for HAE management worldwide

About the role:

This role requires a deep understanding of the biotech industry, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing legal support in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. In the role, the candidate will provide advice to the company’s management, including working directly with the KalVista’s CFO and COO.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the General Counsel in providing strategic legal advice to senior members of KalVista’s management team, particularly the CFO and COO, on a wide range of corporate matters
  • Oversee corporate governance and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations with a focus on SEC reporting, corporate filings and obligations with respect to the Board of Directors
  • Direct and drive general corporate responsibilities including entity formation and reporting requirements 
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with the company's operations and strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed to support specialized legal matters
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively address potential legal issues
  • Support the company's fundraising activities, including public offerings

 

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience working on corporate legal matters
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, securities law and regulatory compliance
  • Experience operating as a Corporate Secretary or Assistant Corporate Secretary a plus
  • Willingness to learn and take on new and additional responsibilities
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity
