ABOUT THE ROLE
KalVista is seeking a Director of HCP Marketing who will lead the strategic planning, tactical execution and ongoing management of physician-focused marketing efforts in the US. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing, this role requires a dynamic and self-driven individual with strong strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration skills This individual will lead all HCP initiatives in addition to several cross-functional sub-teams. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced, growing organization, with a goal of exceeding quality expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works cross functionally to ensure an integrated brand strategy that includes all facets of the HAE community (i.e. brand, patient services, advocacy, and communications)
- Lead HCP personal and peer-to-peer marketing in close collaboration with the Consumer Marketing and agency partners
- Establish and implement the product positioning, implement disease state and branded campaigns and messaging; develop, and execute personal and non-personal branded and disease state tactics
- Partner with the Consumer Marketing partners to develop and optimize non-personal promotional content and collateral that align with brand positioning and engagement strategy
- Manage interactions with opinion leaders, lead market insight gathering through advisory boards, and build/maintain HCP speaker bureau; includes KOL identification and development
- Partner cross-functionally on Strategic Planning and campaign evolution
- Work with cross-functional teams to analyze customer brand/competitive product utilization, and market trends to inform strategic & tactical decision making
- Develop and refine HCP segmentation and targeting
- Develop detailed and effective communication plans, including internal and external messaging, as well as presence at key congresses
- Build and lead a high-performing team, coaching and developing next generation of leaders, seen as a leader and mentor outside of their team. Expect to have 1-2 direct reports, but act as a peer leader across marketing team
- Manage agency partners and vendors on market research efforts, creation of marketing materials, materials reviews, and budget adherence
- Align with Sales leadership on Sales Representative directives, POA, training ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams and readiness of field-facing materials
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for pre- and post-approval activities and ability to model expected behavior for the team
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required MBA is strongly preferred
- 7 years of relevant marketing experience
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence across teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA is strongly preferred
- Strong experience in leading launch(s) as a marketer, preferably in rare disease
- At least 3 years of leading HCP marketing, preferably in rare disease
- Prior experience in commercial functions beyond marketing (e.g., Sales, Market Access, Commercial Operations) is a plus
- Previous experience working in a biotech start-up is preferred
