We are seeking a Senior Release Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment. This role is critical to ensuring our software deployments are smooth, timely, and meet the high standards our customers expect. You'll work cross-functionally across engineering, QA, operations, and product teams, coordinating every stage of the release lifecycle. Your leadership will ensure the integrity of our production environments and drive continuous improvements to our release processes.

Please note that this is a 12-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and Schedule Releases: Develop and manage detailed release plans, define scope and timelines, and ensure coordination across multiple teams.
  • Coordinate Across Functions: Act as the release liaison between engineering, testing, operations, and business stakeholders to guarantee seamless integration and deployment.
  • Manage Release Risks: Identify and mitigate risks related to technical failures, security vulnerabilities, and potential business disruptions.
  • Communicate Clearly: Keep internal and external stakeholders informed with regular updates on release status, potential issues, and changes.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance: Champion adherence to quality standards and ensure that releases comply with internal policies and established procedures.
  • Evaluate Post-Release Performance: Monitor the success of each release, collect feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Optimize Automation: Work with DevOps team to leverage and enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Maintain Documentation: Own and update comprehensive release documentation, including deployment plans, runbooks, and retrospectives.
  • Foster Stakeholder Relationships: Build strong partnerships across departments and manage expectations proactively.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to enhance release processes, reduce friction, and support rapid, safe deployments.

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Improved Release Metrics: Reduced release-related incidents and shortened cycle times.
  • Increased Predictability: Higher percentage of releases delivered on time and on scope.
  • Stakeholder Confidence: Strong satisfaction from internal teams and customers with the release process.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing complex release cycles and showing measurable improvements in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
  • Familiarity with common CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins with Azure.
  • Knowledge of database deployment practices, including dacpacs, is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with testing tools like Cypress, Postman/Bruno, and Rainforest QA.
  • Understanding of logging and observability tools, particularly Elastic (ELK Stack).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across globally distributed teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for building efficient, scalable processes.
