Senior IT Systems Administrator

Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines

About Karbon

Karbon is the global leader in AI-powered practice management software for accounting firms. We provide an award-winning cloud platform that helps tens of thousands of accounting professionals work more efficiently and collaboratively every day. With customers in 40 countries, we have grown into a globally distributed team across the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. We are well-funded, ranked #1 on G2, growing rapidly, and have a people-first culture that is recognized with Great Place To Work® certification and on Fortune magazine's Best Small Workplaces™ List.

We are hiring our first internal Senior IT Systems Administrator to support Karbon's global team and build our internal IT function from the ground up.

Today, our IT services are delivered through an external managed service provider based in New York. In this role, you'll work closely with that partner while progressively taking on direct operational ownership as Karbon grows. Over time, this role is expected to expand into a small team, with a focus on extending coverage across our non-US regions — particularly Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the UK — and bringing more services in-house.

This is a hands-on, senior role for someone who owns problems, builds systems, and makes things work better. You won't just manage tickets — you'll shape how IT operates at a rapidly growing company. Karbon is genuinely, substantively embracing AI across every part of how we work — not as a side project, but as a fundamental shift in how we operate. We expect this role to reflect that: those that should apply should be very comfortable reaching for agentic tools and automated workflows as a first instinct, not an afterthought.

About the Role

Provide global employee IT support

  • Become the primary internal point of contact for IT support across all regions and time zones, with an initial focus on Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the UK
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, access, and connectivity issues
  • Deploy AI agents to handle ticket triage, routing, and first-response — reducing manual handling and improving response times for employees outside US hours
  • Support new hire onboarding and employee offboarding, ensuring a smooth and secure experience end-to-end

Manage device and asset lifecycle

  • Provision and configure MacOS and Windows laptops for new hires
  • Maintain accurate device inventory and asset tracking
  • Manage device lifecycle, including replacements, upgrades, and end-of-life processes
  • Automate device provisioning workflows and endpoint compliance checks wherever possible, using agentic tooling to reduce manual steps

Administer core internal systems

  • Collaborate with our current external provider to eventually own identity and access management across our Okta environment, including SSO configuration, MFA enforcement, and access provisioning
  • Administer core SaaS platforms including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Salesforce, Atlassian, and 1Password
  • Build and deploy agents or automated workflows to handle access provisioning, deprovisioning, and permission audits — reducing reliance on manual processes, along with leveraging and provide feedback on how to improve existing zero-touch policies as it relates to provisioning and deprovisioning hardware
  • Ensure systems outside Okta are managed with the same rigour as those within it

Partner with our external IT provider

  • Work closely with our New York-based MSP, coordinating ticket escalation and shared support workflows
  • Maintain clear service level expectations and escalation paths
  • Lead knowledge transfer as responsibilities progressively move in-house
  • Help evaluate which services to internalise and when, as Karbon's needs evolve

Build processes, documentation, and automation

  • Build and maintain documentation for internal systems, workflows, and runbooks
  • Improve onboarding and offboarding processes to make them faster, more consistent, and more secure
  • Identify repetitive IT tasks and replace them with agentic workflows — whether that's automated onboarding sequences, self-service resolution for common issues, or AI-assisted internal knowledge retrieval
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to safely introduce agentic automation into internal workflows

Support security and compliance

  • Work closely with our internal security team to ensure IT practices meet company security standards
  • Maintain secure device management, access controls, and endpoint compliance
  • Support security and compliance initiatives alongside engineering and security teams

About You

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration or internal IT operations, ideally in a SaaS or technology company
  • Demonstrated experience supporting distributed, global teams across multiple time zones and regions — including experience with large or complex markets such as the US, Australia, or Philippines
  • Deep proficiency with MacOS environments; solid working knowledge of Windows
  • Deep proficiency with MDM tools, particularly Jamf and Intune, and how to operate within those existing, complex environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Okta (SSO, MFA, lifecycle management) and Google Workspace administration
  • Experience administering SaaS platforms such as Slack, Zoom, and Salesforce etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills — you dig in, you document, you fix
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable supporting people at all levels of a company

Preferred

  • Experience working alongside or managing a relationship with a managed service provider
  • Exposure to endpoint management platforms such as Jamf or Intune
  • Familiarity with IT security and compliance frameworks relevant to SaaS businesses
  • Experience building or scaling an internal IT function in a high-growth environment

What Success Looks Like

In the first 90 days, you will have:

  • Established a strong working relationship with our MSP and internal stakeholders, with clear escalation paths and defined handoff points
  • Developed a clear picture of our current systems, gaps, and automation opportunities
  • Provide full ticket management and support for employees outside US hours

Within six months, you will have:

  • Taken ownership of day-to-day IT operations, with the MSP handling escalations only
  • Meaningfully improved the onboarding and offboarding experience for employees globally
  • Documented our core systems and operational workflows in a way that others can follow
  • Deployed at least one agentic workflow that has measurably reduced manual IT work
  • Contributed to the roadmap for bringing more IT capability in-house over time
