Reports To: Senior Vice President/Head, Development Operations and Biometrics
Location: South San Francisco, CA or Princeton, NJ – On-site 4 days per week (Mon to Thurs)
Job Overview
In this internship, you will support the head of Development Operations & Biometrics with strategic initiatives and departmental organization. Development Operations & Biometrics is a multi-disciplinary function responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of the Kardigan clinical trial portfolio (all phases). This intern will work closely with senior leadership to help drive operational effectiveness, organization and execution of priority goals and initiatives.
This internship will offer exposure to executive-level decision-making, clinical trial operations and data strategy, and organizational design in a biotech/clinical development environment.
Objectives:
- Support the Head of DevOps & Biometrics in strategic planning, departmental organization, and execution of key departmental initiatives
- Improve organizational clarity, meeting effectiveness & structure, communications, and departmental repositories/archive
- Create structured tools, framework, and documentation for efficient department operations
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Initiative Support – assist in planning, tracking, and coordinating high-priority projects across the departmental. Working alongside senior leaders and functional staff
- Support development or refinement of functional materials – charters, R&R matrices, governance frameworks
- Communication & Reporting – identify opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and alignment across the department
- Contribute to clinical trials through directed assignments to support clinical study leads, biostatisticians, and data management colleagues
Outputs at the Conclusion of Program
- Portfolio of strategic project materials
- One or more organizational artifacts – department overview, role clarity or responsibility framework
- Executive-ready presentation or dashboard
- Summary report of key accomplishments, insights, learnings, future improvement recommendations
Learnings:
- Education and insight into the clinical drug development ecosystem, focused on clinical operations, biostatistics, programming, and clinical data management functions.
- Exposure to executive leadership, strategic planning, and operational decision-making
- Insight into how clinical development organizations scale and operate
- Mentoring from Sr. clinical development leaders
Qualifications
- Rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences, at a 4-year accredited university.
- Strong interest in clinical development, pharma operations
- Organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact and network with various individuals across the organization
- Synthesize complex information into clear concise executive level outputs
- High Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
Pay: $25 per hour for Princeton, NJ or $29 per hour for South San Francisco, CA
Location requirement: Candidates must be based in the Princeton, NJ Area or the San Francisco Bay Area (no relocation assistance)
