Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Manager to join our team in the Bay Area. The primary responsibility of this role is to spearhead our fundraising efforts, ensuring a steady flow of resources to support our operations and programs. 

The key to your success in this role will be: 

  • Your experience managing philanthropic giving or sales from end-to-end, including engagement, closing and stewardship
  • High emotional intelligence with a genuine style that engages a range of people
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach and the ability to deliver
  • Understanding and experience in running signature events and proposal writing

Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Implementation

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to identify and cultivate potential donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to set fundraising goals and targets aligned with Karya's mission and objectives.
  • Organize and execute various fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage donors and raise awareness about Karya's work.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with existing donors, ensuring their continued support and engagement.

Donor Stewardship and Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for donors, providing exceptional customer service and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Develop and implement donor recognition and appreciation programs to acknowledge and celebrate their contributions.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, grant applications, and reports to secure funding from diverse sources.
  • Represent Karya at various events, meetings, and conferences to promote our mission and fundraising initiatives.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, tracking donations, pledges, and communication history.
  • Analyse fundraising data and metrics to identify trends, evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to the leadership team, highlighting fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as nonprofit management, business administration, or marketing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related roles within the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing fundraising strategies and campaigns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and database management.
  • Familiarity with the Bay Area philanthropic landscape and donor community is preferred.
