As the Government Relations Lead, you will be a key driver in Karya’s journey to scale its impact. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and manage partnerships with central, state, and district government stakeholders. You will also oversee public policy trends and engage with think tanks, CSOs, and policy advocates to align ecosystem initiatives with Karya’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain networks with key government functionaries across relevant ministries and departments at the central, state, and district levels to establish strategic partnerships that align with Karya’s mission of unlocking digital work opportunities for millions of Indians.
  • Engage with relevant departments and stakeholders to secure large-scale buy-in for Karya’s impactful initiatives.
  • Map and systematically engage with external stakeholders, including policymakers, think tanks, and CSO partners, to effectively present Karya’s initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyse national and state policy landscapes for strategic intelligence and tactical insights.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align government partnerships with organizational goals.
  • Support cross-functional teams in executing government-related projects at scale.

Travel: Willingness to travel (40%) and potentially work from government offices across different regions as required.

Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience working with and managing government stakeholders, including a strong understanding of the Indian policy landscape and government processes.
  • Project management expertise with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and large-scale initiatives.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and collaboration skills.
  • Strong people management and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Previous experience working in the gig economy or with social enterprises
  • Knowledge of OKR-based performance tracking
  • Experience in mentoring teams to drive collaboration and productivity
  • Lived or professional experience in communities Karya serves
  • Knowledge and experience in AI and data labelling operations
