Director of Marketing

Broomfield, Colorado, United States; Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Katalyst Description:

We build robotic spacecraft that enable dynamic space operations, creating a future where maneuvering, upgrading, refueling, and exploration are as routine as they are on Earth. Getting to space and overcoming the gravity well is only half the story. What you do there is the future. We are not building the trains. We are building the machines that lay down the tracks. By developing the foundational capabilities that make sustained, responsive operations possible, we enable a new era of space activity that strengthens national security and ensures freedom of action in an increasingly contested domain.

Katalyst Culture:

Working at Katalyst is intense, hands-on, and deeply rewarding. You’ll take real ownership and see your work move from concept to operations in an environment where the problems are hard and the impact is real. We value humility, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way, even when it’s harder. You’ll work closely with thoughtful, driven teammates who push each other to do their best.

What You’ll Do

  1. Work with the CEO, BD, and product teams to apply, pressure-test, and refine Katalyst’s positioning based on feedback from capture and partner conversations
  2. Drive consistent understanding and communication of Katalyst’s value in dynamic space operations across internal and external stakeholders
  3. Enable BD and leadership with high-quality, capture-ready materials, including capability decks, one-pagers, and competitive narratives
  4. Maintain a consistent, credible, and aligned brand presence across all external touchpoints
  5. Establish and execute disciplined, well-prepared launch and communications practices

What We’re Looking For

  1. You can market complex hardware, software, and data-service systems with technical depth and accuracy
    • You independently understand deep technical material and translate engineering capability into clear, credible customer value
  2. You know how to build trust in risk-sensitive, service-driven environments
    • You understand how credibility is established with government buyers, primes, and commercial operators
  3. You have excellent taste, judgment, and communication skills
    • You continually raise the quality bar in all messaging, design, and materials
    • You communicate clearly, precisely, and persuasively in writing and presentations, especially on technical and strategic topics
  4. You can operate comfortably and effectively at the executive level
  5. You are a hands-on individual contributor
    • This is a one-person marketing function (for now), and you are comfortable owning and executing the work yourself with limited support

Your Ideal Background

  1. 6+ years of experience in marketing for technical products, ideally in complex domains like hardware, defense tech, or robotics
  2. Experience in a high-growth or resource-constrained environment
    • You’ve worked in environments where you wore multiple hats and executed hands-on as well as strategically. Experience in startups or small and medium-sized businesses is valued
  3. Strong foundation in product marketing, positioning, differentiation, and messaging
    • You’re good at turning complex engineering capability into clear, compelling customer value
  4. Track record of building deal and contract-support marketing materials
    • You’ve built the decks, one-pagers, competitive narratives, and executive-level materials that are used to position your company's services and close deals
  5. Exceptional communication and brand judgment. You have experience building credibility and trust in high-stakes B2B and government-facing markets

Additional Requirements: Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Compensation and Benefits: Your base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The anticipated salary range for this role is $160,000 - $215,000 annually.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at Katalyst. You will also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of the Employee Stock Option and Equity Plan, as well as a relocation bonus and other discretionary bonuses. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, and unlimited Paid Time Off.

At Katalyst our work on projects involving the U.S. Department of Defense requires adherence to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 22 C.F.R. Parts 120-130, which requires compliance with U.S. export laws before allowing employees to perform certain positions. Currently, our available roles necessitate access to ITAR-controlled information, and as a result, Katalyst would have to ensure any non-US person is authorized access to ITAR information before the commencement of employment. We are committed to equal employment opportunities and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
