About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee the daily production of our portfolio of waterless moisturizers. You thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and bring a strong focus on team leadership, problem solving, and operational excellence. In this role, you’ll lead and mentor a team of production assistants to achieve daily goals, drive ongoing process improvements, and ensure we uphold our commitment to producing innovative, high quality products. You will also play a key role in supporting our long-term growth through working to scale our production processes for our next phase of business.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Production Supervision
- Lead and supervise daily production operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and alignment with company policies and regulations, based on shift priorities and schedule.
- Inspect raw materials and finished goods to ensure they meet quality standards, including sensory and visual evaluations.
- Guide the team through formula troubleshooting and machinery issues as needed.
- Maintain appropriate raw material inventory levels.
Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Lead and mentor production staff, communicate updates, and proactively address challenges to ensure consistent adherence to standards and continuous growth.
- Train and develop team members on SOPs, safety practices, and new product formulations, reinforcing a culture of learning and operational excellence.
- Monitor individual and team performance, provide timely feedback, and support skill development to drive accountability and improvement.
- Assist in recruitment and hiring of any production positions.
Operational Planning & Process
- Assist in the development of production schedules and staffing plans, using forecasts, team capacity, and material availability to most efficiently utilize resources.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to drive increases in production capacity by supporting the evaluation of equipment needs, process changes, and team structure.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies or bottlenecks, and propose data-driven recommendations for process optimizations.
- Work alongside R&D team to develop production-ready processes for all new products and coordinate their rollout with the team to ensure adherence to launch timelines and standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all SOPs are consistently maintained, regularly reviewed, and promptly updated to reflect current practices, regulatory changes, and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate daily production data, including batch records, ingredient usage logs, waste reports, equipment cleaning and maintenance logs, and any deviations from standard processes.
- Prepare for and lead internal and external audits or inspections, ensuring that all records are complete, easily accessible, and meet regulatory expectations.
- Maintain ingredient standards, review quality and regulatory documentation for all raw materials upon receipt, and flag any discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained and that all health and safety guidelines are followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment; skincare, CPG, or food production experience required.
- Associates degree or equivalent technical degree in a related field, preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple production lines and product types.
- Familiarity with cosmetics compliance, including GMP, health and safety standards, and production SOPs.
- Experienced with G-Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft 365 (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and lead under pressure.
- Highly adaptable with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and reprioritize as needed.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Requirements
- Ability to maintain quality control and cleanliness standards
- Ability to lift 55 pounds repeatedly and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Ability to operate knives and other equipment as needed
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours during shifts
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and other ingredients
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8am - 6pm, with the flexibility for some weekends/holidays.
Salary: $65-80k based on experience
You will report to the Manager, Operations.
