We are currently seeking a Machinist to join our growing team in State College, PA! As a Machinist on the KCF Team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a collaborative team of hardware and production experts. Since we design and build all of our hardware right here in State College, PA, this role must be willing to work in person at our State College office with the ability to commute to our Bellefonte, PA location as needed as well.
Essential Functions:
- Perform work with shop equipment including lathe, mills, grinders and measuring tools
- Interpret drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions
- Translate CAM designs to machined parts (CNC)
- Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
- Measure and mark raw materials needed to manufacture parts
- Monitor the production process and intervene when problems arise
- Take precise measurements and make calculations on a daily basis
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process
- Short-run production of KCF mechanical hardware
- Design and construct electrical and mechanical laboratory test equipment
- Maintain shop equipment and cleanliness of shop area
- Promote a culture of workplace safety to reduce the risk of workplace accidents
- Mechanical maintenance and operation of building components as required by KCF
- Build assemblies for production fixtures and assist with other production and hardware assemblies as assigned by supervisor
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and other KCF leadership staff
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or Trade/Vocational Certificate or equivalent job experience
- At least 10 years of applicable machining experience
- Strong mathematics, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of electrical and wiring principles
- Experience working with precision machining equipment
- Experience with broad application of principles, theories, concepts, techniques, plus a working knowledge of other related fields
- Valid U.S Driver’s License with ability to travel between KCF’s State College and Bellefonte Offices as needed
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
Work Environment & Conditions:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 25 pounds in weight
- Position may require bending, leaning, balancing, and crouching
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
