Job Description: Heavy Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy machinery on construction sites and ensuring tasks are completed according to project specifications. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely operating machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and cranes
  • Performing excavation, grading, material handling, and lifting tasks as required by the project
  • Interpreting blueprints and work orders to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
  • Conducting routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Troubleshooting and identifying equipment issues to prevent project delays
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to report progress and address any issues
  • Collaborating with the construction team to coordinate tasks and meet project milestones
  • Passing a Disa test and holding a valid TWIC card to work on certain job sites

Reports to: Superintendent
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Average OT: 5-10 hours/week

This role requires a combination of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, making it a vital part of any construction team’s success.

Additional Information:

  • This position requires regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Travel to various job sites may be required based on project needs.
