This role is 100% remote, with the option of a hybrid schedule for candidates located in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro areas.

About the Job
As a Software Development Engineer in Test within Keeper’s Business Intelligence (BI) engineering organization, you will design, build, and own automated test frameworks that validate the APIs, services, and workflows powering Keeper’s backend and analytics-supporting systems. This role focuses on test system architecture, API automation, and CI/CD integration, rather than manual testing or dashboard validation. You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and QA partners to embed automation early in the development lifecycle and ensure high-quality releases at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for functional, regression, and performance testing of backend services and APIs
- Build and manage end-to-end automated test suites using modern automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks
- Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
- Partner with engineering teams to identify automation opportunities throughout the SDLC
- Conduct code reviews, enforce automation best practices, and contribute to test framework quality and maintainability
- Analyze automation results, identify failures, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently
- Monitor and continuously improve automation stability, reliability, and coverage across multiple environments
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new automation tools, technologies, and frameworks
- Due to this role’s involvement working on FedRAMP compliance requirements, qualified candidates must be a U.S. Person
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining automated test systems for backend services or APIs
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript and/or Python
- Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Jest, TestNG, or similar)
- Strong experience testing REST APIs, authentication flows, and backend services
- Proficiency with CI/CD workflows and version control systems (Git)
- Experience validating authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth2, JWT)
- Experience testing cloud-native or containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering and QA teams

Keeper ensures that all our third parties are contractually bound to protect your personal data with adequate safeguards in place.
5. International Transfers
Your data may be accessed by Keeper entities globally as needed for the purposes of hiring and decision making. We protect any such data transfer between Keeper entities using appropriate safeguards under applicable data protection laws.
6. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, consistent with our industry leading security standards.
7. Retention
We keep your data for 24 months from your last application activity, then delete or anonymize it.
Exceptions:
- You opt into our talent database for further retention by providing consent (extended retention)
- You're hired (transfers to employee records)
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights and can contact us at the email below to exercise them:
- Access, correct, or delete your data, subject to applicable law and retention requirements
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent (where applicable)
- Request data portability
- Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority
If you become an employee, your rights regarding your employee record are governed by our internal Employee Privacy Notice and certain data will be retained as required under relevant laws such as employment or tax law.
When you request access to your personal data, some information may be redacted if it includes the personal data of other individuals or information that we must protect in order to preserve their privacy rights.
