This is a 100% remote position, with an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule for candidates based in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro areas.

About the Job

As a SDET focused on Android automation, you will design and maintain automated test frameworks for Keeper’s native Android applications. This role emphasizes automation development, CI/CD integration and Android-specific test infrastructure rather than primarily manual testing.

You will work closely with Android Engineering, QA and Product teams to improve testability, expand automation coverage and ensure new features are reliable and release-ready throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks for native Android applications
  • Build and extend automated test suites for functional, regression, integration and end-to-end coverage
  • Develop automated tests using Espresso, UI Automator, Appium or similar Android testing frameworks
  • Integrate Android test automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Bitrise or similar platforms
  • Execute automated tests across Android emulators and physical devices
  • Partner with Android engineers to improve application testability and automation coverage
  • Investigate test failures, identify root causes and improve automation stability and reliability
  • Validate application behavior across different Android versions, device types and configurations
  • Contribute to mobile automation architecture, tooling standards and testing best practices
  • Identify gaps in automated coverage and prioritize high-value scenarios for automation
  • Evaluate and adopt new Android automation tools and technologies where appropriate
  • Use AI-assisted tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar platforms to improve test development, debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation and workflow efficiency

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software testing, SDET or test automation roles, including significant Android automation experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Android automation frameworks such as Espresso, UI Automator, Appium or similar tools
  • Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks
  • Experience with Android Studio, Gradle and Android build workflows
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience testing native Android applications across emulators and physical devices
  • Strong understanding of Android application lifecycle, permissions, background processes and platform-specific behavior
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working closely with software engineers to improve testability and resolve complex defects
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across Engineering, Product and QA teams
  • Ability and willingness to use AI-assisted tools effectively to improve automation development, debugging, analysis and documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Due to this role’s involvement in FedRAMP environments, qualified candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based mobile device testing platforms such as Firebase Test Lab, BrowserStack or Sauce Labs
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose testing
  • Familiarity with Android accessibility, performance or network-condition testing
  • Experience testing authentication, biometrics, passkeys, MFA or other security-sensitive mobile workflows
  • Experience testing cybersecurity, identity or password management applications
  • Familiarity with Google Play release workflows and mobile release validation
  • Experience with API testing or backend-dependent mobile workflows

5. International Transfers

Your data may be accessed by Keeper entities globally as needed for the purposes of hiring and decision making. We protect any such data transfer between Keeper entities using appropriate safeguards under applicable data protection laws.

6. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, consistent with our industry leading security standards.

7. Retention

We keep your data for 24 months from your last application activity, then delete or anonymize it.

Exceptions:

  • You opt into our talent database for further retention by providing consent (extended retention)
  • You're hired (transfers to employee records)

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights and can contact us at the email below to exercise them:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data, subject to applicable law and retention requirements
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent (where applicable)
  • Request data portability
  • Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority

If you become an employee, your rights regarding your employee record are governed by our internal Employee Privacy Notice and certain data will be retained as required under relevant laws such as employment or tax law.
