Job Description

Reporting to the President and collaborating closely with the Navigatr Group leadership, the Vice President - Finance is a key strategic partner responsible for driving financial transformation, optimizing business performance, and solving complex financial challenges.  This role goes beyond operational finance, focusing on strategic planning, change management, and process improvement to enhance the company’s long term growth and scalability..

As one of the portfolio companies under the Navigatr Group, this VP will lead the financial strategy, oversee risk management, and implement data-driven decision making frameworks to drive efficiency and profitability through building strong relationships internal to finance and cross company with other functions/ business units. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall financial position of the company according with Group standards and policies
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership, providing data-driven insights, risk assessments, and financial recommendation to support key business decisions
  • Work with operational and support areas to understand the goals and objectives, key drivers of success, information and measurement systems, and processes and reporting
  • Working with Group to develop, direct, and provide financial analysis of operations by evaluating trends, studying revenue opportunities, establishing critical measurements, accumulating resources, and resolving problems
  • Lead the finance and accounting functions with a focus on strategic financial planning, change management, and process optimization, ensuring continuous improvement and long-term financial sustainability
  • Translate the strategic and business plans for financial planning and accounting into operational plans
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and explore, analyze and report variances for discussion and decision-making
  • Develop a process of assessing and reporting on the overall performance of the company Develop and implement robust financial performance tracking systems, aligning key performance indicators (KPIs) with company goals and ensuring real-time financial insights for proactive decision-making
  • Oversee the year-end audit process
  • Recommend new practices and/or innovative opportunities in alignment with Group
  • Ensure the effective performance of all team members
  • Communicate, engage and interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop policies and procedures while leveraging technology and automation enhance financial processes, ensuring compliance with Group standards and industry best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Commerce/Business Administration required
  • Canadian accounting designation CPA a must, complemented by 15+ years working in a senior role leading the finance function in a multi-stream business. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong expertise in Canadian and US corporate tax, including experience in advisory roles or industry settings managing tax planning, compliance and optimization strategies
  • Advanced level Excel, Intermediate level PowerPoint skills
  • Systems savvy and able to grasp system interconnectivity issues as they pertain to accounting controls/reconciliation functions
  • Direct experience with ERP system implementation and process automation, with familiarity in Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualization
  • Fully proficient in consolidations accounting including managing complex intercompany transactions/reconciliations, FX translations, CTA proofs, etc.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to present to executive level management
  • Highly adaptable and capable of driving financial transformation in a fast paced, constantly evolving entrepreneurial environment
  • Effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work through conflict and build trust both upwards and downwards Proven ability to navigate complex challenges, build trust across departments, and drive cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic business environment
  • Low ego and highly collaborative leadership style
