Position Summary

The Senior Finance Operations Specialist is an experienced member of the Finance team responsible for the accurate and timely execution of assigned accounting workflows. This role requires a thorough understanding of the end-to-end accounting cycle, sound judgment in resolving transactional issues, and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence. The incumbent is expected to ensure the integrity of financial data within their assigned function, proactively identify and escalate discrepancies, and serve as a reliable resource in supporting operational efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely processing of financial transactions within the assigned function, including but not limited to commissions, client refunds, invoicing, collections, or account reconciliations, in accordance with established procedures and internal controls
  • Prepare and complete month-end reconciliations for the assigned function, ensuring all variances are identified, investigated, and resolved within required deadlines
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of relevant accounting processes to assess the accuracy and completeness of transactions, and identify anomalies before they impact downstream reporting
  • Escalate issues and exceptions to the Finance Operations Manager in a clear and timely manner, providing relevant context and a recommended course of action
  • Collaborate with internal departments to obtain, verify, and validate information required for accurate transaction processing and reporting
  • Adhere to established financial controls and standard operating procedures; contribute to the identification and documentation of process improvements as opportunities arise
  • Maintain consistent service delivery in line with defined SLAs and communicate proactively when deadlines or volumes are at risk
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, analyses, and process reviews as directed by the Finance Operations Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in finance operations or accounting, with demonstrated proficiency in one or more functions of the accounting workflow (AP, AR, reconciliations, commissions, or equivalent)
  • Experience in the travel industry is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present information clearly and collaborate across teams
  • Self-directed and accountable, with a track record of delivering quality work consistently and with minimal supervision

 

We provide a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. Employees have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and compensation tied to business and individual performance. The expected compensation range for this position is: $70,000 to $80,000.

The actual compensation may vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
