THE TEAM:

Kepler’s Optimization and Innovation team (Digital Media Team) is made up of forward-thinking media traders, with ad platform optimization expertise across biddable media channels (including social, SEM, video/Advanced TV, and programmatic DSP media: audio, DOOH, native, display, etc.) and a keen sense of macro marketing, data policy, and technology trends. 

This team is not simply a trading desk - you are a strategic biddable media expert, who will be client-facing, partner-facing, and seen as an internal expert for brainstorming future-proof ad tech solutions that drive client value and solve/automate internal workflow challenges.

THE ROLE: 

  • Strong written and verbal client and internal communication
  • Ability to make strategic and tactical recommendations independently with minimal input from peers and leaders 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and creatively problem-solve for client issues
  • Understanding of the Amazon ecosystem from retail operations to A+ content to media and data/analytics
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: ability to handle ambiguity and change, with the purpose of building a business and team.

 

  • Priority Platform: Amazon DSP
    • Ability to assess Amazon DSP's best practices and recommend adjustments where relevant to client businesses
    • Moderate understanding of site tagging (Amazon Ad Tag)
      • Ability to walk through the essentials of implementation and event tagging at a high level (not required to implement directly)
    • Moderate understanding of ad tagging
      • Ability to understand purposes of client-provided ad tagging: adservers, ad verification partners, measurement partners, etc.
    • Understanding of essential Amazon Ad policies
      • in which cases are advertisers restricted from using certain types of data or inventory
      • What types of creative elements are likely to be flagged and rejected
    • Deep understanding of Amazon Owned & Operated inventory, including:
      • STV (Streaming TV), Prime Video, Twitch, and other video offerings
      • Onsite display inventory and rough pricing / strategic purpose vs 3rd party inventory
      • Activation of deals / guaranteed buys
      • Knowledge of managed-service-only offerings (e.g., Thursday night Football and other licensed live sports)
    • Moderate understanding of the programmatic ecosystem’s 3rd party inventory
      • what is an exchange, an SSP, data clean room, etc.
      • How is Amazon Publisher Services differentiated

 

  • Secondary Platform: Amazon Ads (Amazon Search)
    • Ability to independently audit campaigns and set up new campaigns, assessing Amazon Ads best practices and recommend adjustments where relevant to client businesses
    • Moderate understanding of brand registry and fulfillment options
    • Deep understanding of buy box dynamics
    • Deep understanding of ASIN structure and optimal grouping for sponsored ads/brands in your ad campaign
    • Understanding of essential Amazon Ads policies
    • Deep understanding of Amazon Seller and Vendor Central
    • Deep understanding of Sponsored Ads, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Brand Videos - and the impact of each independently and with complementary upper funnel brand media.
    • Moderate understanding of Amazon SEO, listing and Store optimization
  • Tertiary Platform: Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC), Amazon’s data clean room
    • Moderate understanding of use cases and benefits in audience strategy and segmentation, targeted media activation, and analytics/measurement
    • Some hands-on experience with AMC is a bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact for Kepler’s Amazon team, servicing Amazon DSP, Amazon Marketing Cloud, Sponsored Ads, Amazon SEO/Store, and the burgeoning area of retail operations and digital shelf management: some clients will require consulting and training, while others require hands-on management of the campaigns.
    • Respond to email communication in a timely manner (24 hours / same day where possible) even if just to confirm receipt and next steps
    • Hop on a call/zoom ad-hoc where necessary to help answer client questions, or to walk less-experienced clients through issues or QA
    • Explain features / functionality where they lack experience
    • Make recommendations to help their campaigns be successful relative to the clients’ stated goals
  • For Managed Service clients who require hands-on campaign management:
    • Translate new business conversations into a campaign strategy; present the proposal and build campaigns
    • Delivery weekly/biweekly reporting across campaigns, on a zoom/call if required by the client in a format predetermined in initial conversations between Kepler/client
    • Receive ad-hoc questions and requests from managed service clients and act upon them in a timely manner

Managed service clients may be DSP-only, DSP and Amazon Search, or Amazon Search only. Pending approval, search accounts may utilize an bid management partner like Pacvue that provides automation to streamline operations and accelerate campaign performance

  • Assist the administration of the business, especially as relative to the “pod” of clients
    • Forecast spend month by month for each client and input into revenue tracking document
    • Assist CSM with billing issues where they apply to your clients and where your input is helpful
    • Assist the account leads in select onboarding tasks for new clients in your “pod” as necessary
    • Ladder up opportunities for case studies or cross-team learnings from highly successful or educational client activations
  • Maintain regular contact with key Amazon support resources and request help as needed. Roles include but are not limited to:Partner Development Manager, Programmatic Solutions Consultant, and other Account Executives.
