People Operations Intern

The People Operations Intern will gain practical exposure to a broad range of human resources functions while supporting day-to-day operations and initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with HR professionals and contribute to meaningful projects across areas such as benefits and compensation, employee programs, and process improvement. The intern will serve as a valued contributor on multiple initiatives, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how HR supports organizational goals.
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their program of study directly contributes to a human resources department and the medical device industry.
This is a paid, part-time summer internship position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Be an engaged supporter to the People Operations team by providing support for tactical projects and key initiatives such as onboarding, performance review cycles, training facilitation, and other cyclical and special programs.
- Apply human resources concepts, policies, and procedures in a manner that adheres to confidentiality, federal and state laws, and aligns with Kestra’s core values and mission.
DOCUMENTATION
- Review existing HRIS and HR Systems data and file for completeness and accuracy of information; address any identified gaps or inaccuracies.
- Recommend and implement improvements in data storage and naming conventions; archive outdated documentation where appropriate.
- Record and store previously undocumented People Operations policies and practices; collaborate with People Operations Partners on identifying tribal knowledge gaps.
DEVELOPMENT
- Maintain and strengthen existing People Operations intranet through addition of new content; create a secondary manager-focused intranet with specialized content and restricted team member access.
- Develop a suite of new informational and instructive content for the People Operations team using a variety of formats (presentations, how-to guides, videos, etc.).
RESEARCH
- Compile and store competitive benchmarking data to include benefits offerings, hiring and retention metrics, industry best practices, emerging trends, and other relevant People Operations datapoints.
- Recommend a series of benefits for consideration to the Kestra offerings package; include costs, preferred vendors, and timeline for implementation of each recommended benefit.
- Review recent employment law updates across the various states and countries Kestra operates in and share findings with the team to ensure the most up to date practices and policies are being implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience Required:
- Rising Junior or Senior in a Bachelor’s Degree program
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity, professionalism, and a high level of confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar productivity tools
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute within a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Preferred:
- Human Resources or Business Administration Specialization

- Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment
- Extended/overtime hours when needed

INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
- Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
- Must complete a pre-internship drug screen
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage
- Frequent stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
- Frequent computers use
- Frequent phone and other business machine use
- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

This role is an in-office position Monday - Thursday, in Kirkland, Washington with the flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
