Position Overview:

The engineer in this position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining scalable infrastructure solutions using AWS, Kubernetes (EKS/K3s/Microk8s), Terraform, and other DevOps tools. This individual will support CI/CD processes, ensure efficient IoT/OTA workflows, and monitor system health using advanced logging and monitoring tools. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in GitOps, Rancher, and containerized environments, with a focus on delivering stability, security, and scalability across systems.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or related roles. • Experience with deployment in environments with limited internet access
  • Proven experience with AWS services, Kubernetes (EKS/K3s/Microk8s), and Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools.

 

Core Experience (Non-negotiable)

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Strong experience managing and automating cloud environments, particularly using AWS
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform or similar
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, repeatable deployments
  • Confident working with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes

Linux Systems Engineering

  • Deep understanding of Linux systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Skilled in automating tasks and managing services at the system level
  • Comfortable customizing environments for various runtime and hardware constraints

Edge & Embedded Systems

  • Experience managing distributed or remote hardware systems (e.g., single-board computers)
  • Familiar with building, deploying, and maintaining software on resource-constrained devices
  • Able to integrate software and hardware in real-world deployments

Deployment & Reliability Engineering

  • Experience implementing reliable deployment strategies, including blue-green and rolling updates
  • Familiar with GitOps and declarative infrastructure patterns
  • Skilled in system observability through monitoring, logging, and alerting tools

Networking & Security

  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals and secure remote access
  • Experience with firewalling, routing, VPNs, and system hardening
  • Knowledge of secrets management and secure automation practices

Collaboration & Ownership

  • Able to work cross-functionally with developers, infrastructure engineers, and hardware teams
  • Self-driven problem solver with end-to-end system ownership mindset
  • Strong documentation and communication habits for maintainable systems

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of containerization using Docker, including DinD and privileged mode configurations.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with centralized logging systems such as EFK/ELK stacks.
  • Knowledge of IoT systems, OTA updates, and secure device workflows.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or similar.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Rancher for Kubernetes management.
  • Familiarity with HashiCorp tools for infrastructure management.
  • Knowledge of best practices in security for cloud and IoT systems.
