ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

KHAITE is seeking a 3D Designer to join our Design team in our New York City headquarters. The 3D Designer will be responsible for developing design ideas and translating creative vision into refined physical and digital interpretations for seasonal collections and special projects.

This role will work closely with the Design and Product Development teams to develop and perfect silhouettes, fabrics, proportions, and construction details throughout the product development process. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of 3D design, draping, pattern making, and garment construction, with a thoughtful and highly collaborative approach to bringing creative concepts to life.

In addition to core 3D design responsibilities, this role will support the Design team with the day-to-day execution and administrative aspects of the design process, including sketch corrections, flat sketches, draping support, and general upkeep of design materials and processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and translate creative concepts into refined 3D designs and physical drapes for seasonal collections and special projects
  • Collaborate closely with the Design team to explore silhouettes, proportions, construction, and fabrication
  • Support the development and refinement of garments through draping, pattern making, and 3D design
  • Work closely with Product Development to translate design concepts into commercially viable products while maintaining creative intent
  • Create and refine digital 3D representations of garments and silhouettes to support the design and development process
  • Identify opportunities to leverage 3D design to streamline and expedite the product development process
  • Communicate design concepts and technical considerations clearly with cross-functional partners
  • Assist with fitting, draping, and adjustments to refine silhouettes and construction details
  • Support the Design Director with draping, flat sketches, sketch corrections, and other day-to-day design needs
  • Maintain organization and general upkeep of design files, samples, sketches, and other creative materials
  • Contribute to the broader Design team's day-to-day needs and special projects as required
  • Stay current on emerging 3D design tools, technologies, and processes that can enhance the creative and product development workflow

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in fashion design, 3D design, or a related field, preferably within luxury fashion
  • Strong technical understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and draping
  • Strong understanding of fabric behavior, fit, proportion, and silhouette
  • Ability to translate 2D design concepts into three-dimensional forms
  • Strong sketching and flat sketching skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly creative environment
  • Resourceful, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach to design and development
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across Design and Product Development
  • A thoughtful eye for proportion, construction, and refined design details
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, 3D Design, or a related field preferred

WE OFFER

The starting base salary for this position is $70,000. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon the candidates' relevant skills and experience. Other benefits include medical, dental, and vision programs, a company bonus plan, employee discounts and perks, a 401k plan with employer match, and other ancillary benefits.
