Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Location: Bohemia, NY

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay: $65,000

 

Position Summary

As an Accounting Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the business by ensuring invoices are processed accurately, customer payments are collected in a timely manner, and accounting records remain organized and up to date. This position primarily focuses on Accounts Receivable and collections while also assisting with light Accounts Payable responsibilities.

 

Success in this role requires someone who enjoys staying organized, communicating across multiple teams, solving problems, and following up to keep work moving. You'll partner closely with Production, Sales, and Finance to help maintain healthy cash flow while providing excellent internal and external customer service.

 

Whether you're managing customer payments, working within lender portals, or assisting with vendor invoices, your work will directly impact the financial success of the business.

 

What You'll Do

Accounts Receivable & Collections

• Manage customer accounts to ensure invoices are collected accurately and on time.
• Coordinate with Production and Sales teams to track completed work and ensure customer payments are received promptly.
• Monitor aging reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances.
• Process customer payments and maintain accurate payment records.
• Work within financing and lender portals to manage payment activity.
• Batch, export, and reconcile invoices as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of customer communications and account activity.
• Help identify and resolve billing discrepancies quickly.

Accounts Payable Support

• Receive, organize, and process incoming vendor invoices.
• Scan and route invoices for processing.
• Assist with invoice coding and payment preparation.
• Maintain organized vendor documentation and accounting records.
• Support month-end accounting activities as needed.

Cross-Functional Support

• Serve as a resource for Sales and Production teams regarding financing, collections, and payment questions.
• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, project managers, and internal teams.
• Help improve accounting processes and maintain accurate financial records.
• Perform additional administrative and accounting duties as assigned.

 

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a similar financial support role preferred.
• Experience with customer collections, payment processing, or accounts receivable.
• Experience with MS office, especially MS Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable working with multiple systems and learning new technology.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow up consistently.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build positive working relationships.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within roofing, construction, home services, or another service-based business.
• Experience using ServiceTitan or similar CRM/ERP platforms.
• Familiarity with lender or financing portals.
• Experience supporting both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
